Book of Maps (Spirit Keepers Tarot)
The following is an excerpt from The Book of Maps, the companion guidebook to the Spirit Keeper’s Tarot, a hand-illustrated black and white tarot deck crafted with practitioners of the mystic arts in mind. The pen and ink drawings were inspired by woodcut prints from the late Renaissance. Symbology called upon is based predominantly on medieval European alchemy, astrology (the Sacred Seven), Hermeticism, Zoroastrianism, Abrahamic angelology, Kabbalah, Catholicism/Christianity, Sufism, and Egyptian mythology. For more information about the deck, go to: https://benebellwen.com/spirit-keepers-tarot Minor Arcana: Seven Upper Realms In lay terms, the Upper Realms relate to conception and the first signs of growth or development. The Aces are the divine seeds that are implanted into our minds and hearts, which we then channel outward to materialize. The Tens from the Lower Realms are linked to the Aces because, after the material pinnacles that the Tens represent, what had manifested is returned to dust, back into the intangible realms from where they first sprung—and that’s the Aces. The cycle continues, and what is in the intangible realm of the Aces will begin to manifest in the Realm of Twos. The Threes, then, give birth descending from the Upper Realm to the Lower Realm, and the first sign of what has materialized having function is in the Fours. Angelology Angelology
Christian Angelology Angelology Introduction Why study Angels? They teach us about God As part of God’s creation, to study them is to study why God created the way he did. In looking at angels we can see God’s designs for his creation, which tells us something about God himself. They teach us about ourselves We share many similar qualities to the angels. We also have several differences due to them being spiritual beings. In looking at these similarities and differences we can learn more about the ways God created humanity. In looking at angels we can avoid “angelic fallacies” which attempt to turn men into angels. They are fascinating! Humans tend to be drawn to the supernatural. Spiritual beings such as angels hit something inside of us that desires to “return to Eden” in the sense of wanting to reconnect ourselves to the spiritual world. They are different, and different is interesting to us. Fr. J. MIN ANGEL Summary Overall
MIN ANGEL Summary Overall - General sense of moving practice forward, positive direction for most, more direct painting language on a non-high art, disposable ‘punk’ support, personal and universal themes of life/death and memories. Allegorical and spiritual references. Humorous, tender, sad, unsettling, intriguing, immediacy. An exploration of image relationships within the composition and in relation to the configurations of the support and the conversations the support introduces in painting materially and thematically in particular in terms of time and space. The ‘reveal’ of the box. Handing paint with authority and fluidly, ‘treating the paint as a new guest at the table’, forthright, painterly, graphic, illustrative. Good colour. Relationship of the three images. Reflecting on ways forward - Continue with cardboard, use the cardboard colour, build up from photos, directness of paint application, reconsider the dreamy, embrace drawing/ illustrative/graphic qualities. Consider compositions, explore single image paintings of the portraits hung close together, limit palette. Build up from photographic references. Draw more. Comments: Marcus Big changes! The card board is working very well, it seems to invite so much more in. This is early days to analyse the paintings in any depth or indeed the composition and painting so just enjoy letting the work emerge. Having said that........ I detect that these are about family and the source material is family photos. I love the male figure in the suit! The Dean Martinish figure. There is tons of good colour in this painting , the modelling in loose greys on the pink ground with cardboard fringes showing. This limited range really works well and has something of the nostalgia of old photos without being too restricted to monochrome. -
A Deeper Look… Angelology – the Doctrine of Angels Michael J
1 A deeper look… Angelology – the Doctrine of Angels Michael J. Breznau | 2015 Holy Angels We believe God created an innumerable host of sinless angels to serve and worship Him (Neh. 9:6; Psa. 103:20; Luke 15:10; Eph. 1:21; Heb. 1:14; Rev. 7:12); that because they are merely created beings and not God, they are not to be worshiped (Col. 2:18; Rev. 22:9); that they are spiritual beings possessing great power (Psa. 103:20; 2 Pet. 2:11; 2 Kgs. 19:35; Job 1:6); that they possess moral judgment and intelligence; and that they are a higher order of creation than mankind (Heb. 2:6-10; cf. Phil. 2:5-8). We believe holy angels primarily functioned as divinely sent messengers (within the biblical narrative, i.e. Matt. 1:21);1 but that they also are sent by God as “ministering spirits” to serve believers in Christ (Heb. 1:14; see also Dan. 6:22; 10:13; cf. Matt. 4:11; Matt. 18:10). Fallen Angels We believe that of the host of angels created by God, one named Lucifer – an “anointed cherub” – lifted himself up in pride, thereby sinning and becoming Satan, the accuser of the brethren, that serpent of old, the great Deceiver (Isa. 14:12-17; Ezek. 28:11-19; 1 Tim. 3:6); that a large number of angels rebelled against God with Satan and together fell from their holy estate (2 Pet. 2:4; Jude 6; Rev. 12:9), some of these fallen angels assumed demonic roles subservient to the evil will of Satan2 and other fallen angels have since been “kept [by God] in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day” (Jude 6; cf. -

Kerubiel is about seven Heavens tall with a body made of burning coals that is covered with thousands of eyes. His face is made of fire, his eyes sparks of light, and his lashes are lightning bolts. Fire spews forth with every word that he speaks and he is covered with wings from head to toe. Major Arcana the Following Is the Journey of the Major Arcana
The Major Arcana The following is the journey of the Major Arcana. We are going to go through them briefly together, but it is also super essential you spend time with this journey over the next week! This course is taught from the Angel Tarot, and you can use the Angel Tarot, or the Archangel Power Tarot, both by Doreen Virtue & Radleigh Valentine. Of course this information can be applied to any card deck! The Major Arcana in general are some very powerful cards! In general they hold greater weight and meaning than the “minor arcana” (which are the other suites that will be discussed). They are also referred to as the trump cards and are the foundational piece of the Tarot deck. They make up the first 21 cards in the deck, and tell a really beautiful story. They are representative of a path to spiritual self awareness and unveil the different stages of life as we move thorough our path. They all hold very deep meaningful lessons. The recording in this week goes through those, and it is also important you listen to your own heart in what they mean to you. If a lot of Major Arcana appear, pay attention to two main points: 1. The person you are reading for may be going through some big life changes. 2. The more that appear the less free will and choice that person may have (but of course there is ALWAYS free will and choice). The Major Arcana cards are all numbered, and in the Angel Tarot are associated with an Angel. -

Dark Mirrors: Azazel and Satanael in Early Jewish Demonology
Orlov Dark Mirrors RELIGIOUS STUDIES Azazel and Satanael in Early Jewish Demonology Dark Mirrors is a wide-ranging study of two central figures in early Jewish demonology—the fallen angels Azazel and Satanael. Andrei A. Orlov explores the mediating role of these paradigmatic celestial rebels in the development of Jewish demonological traditions from Second Temple apocalypticism to later Jewish mysticism, such as that of the Hekhalot and Shi ur Qomah materials. Throughout, Orlov makes use of Jewish pseudepigraphical materials in Slavonic that are not widely known. Dark Mirrors Orlov traces the origins of Azazel and Satanael to different and competing mythologies of evil, one to the Fall in the Garden of Eden, the other to the revolt of angels in the antediluvian period. Although Azazel and Satanael are initially representatives of rival etiologies of corruption, in later Jewish and Christian demonological lore each is able to enter the other’s stories in new conceptual capacities. Dark Mirrors also examines the symmetrical patterns of early Jewish demonology that are often manifested in these fallen angels’ imitation of the attributes of various heavenly beings, including principal angels and even God himself. Andrei A. Orlov is Associate Professor of Theology at Marquette University. He is the author of several books, including Selected Studies in the Slavonic Pseudepigrapha. Archangel Spiel
Jay French Presents...The Archangel Series © Raphael The Breath of God Above all, Raphael’s legends paint a picture of a healer. Often represented with the “Golden Vial of Balm”, and a pilgrim’s staff, Raphael has an apparent charge to heal the Earth. He was the angel who healed Abraham’s pain of circumcision, cured Jacob’s thigh after being wrestled by Samael, and gave the medical book, “The Book of the Angel Raziel” to Noah. Raphael also provided Solomon with a magic ring, the Pentalpha, in order to build his temple. He is one of the Princes of the Presence, healing, joy, miracles, grace, patron of travellers, and ruler of the 2nd Heaven. According to my research (which although it was vast, is not foolproof), here are the translations of what I believe to be the Hebrew words on the seal: ΡΑΠΗΑΕΛ RAPHAEL Means: “God has Healed” ΑΓΙΟΣ AGIOS A name of God The Signature of Archangel Raphael name of the Α∆ΟΝΑΨ ADONAY “The Lord” Wednesday 2nd Heaven ΟΤΗΕΟΣ OTHEOS A name of God Raquie About The Series Based on a combination of Christian, Judaic & Islamic legends & history, I was inspired to render these mysterious creatures in their more mysterious and dramatic light. All too often angels are depicted as “cute” or “docile”, and I wanted a view of the warriors, the secret-keepers, the guides and messengers. Of course, this does fall under my basic love of archetypes, but my methodology reflected my thoughts to some degree, in that I wanted to capture the timeless conundrum of the angel concept. -

Higher ranks may be asserted to have greater power or authority over lower ranks, and with different ranks having differences in appearance, such as varying numbers of wings or faces. Abrahamic faiths The Assumption of the Virgin by Francesco Botticini at the National Gallery The Jewish angelic hierarchy is established London, shows three hierarchies and nine orders of angels, each with different in the Hebrew Bible, Talmud, Rabbinic characteristics. literature, and traditional Jewish liturgy. They are categorized in different hierarchies proposed by various theologians. For example, Maimonides, in his Mishneh Torah or Yad ha-Chazakah: Yesodei ha-Torah, counts ten ranks of angels. The most influential Christian angelic hierarchy was that put forward by Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite in the 4th or 5th century in his book De Coelesti Hierarchia (On the Celestial Hierarchy). -
'Everybody Loves Angels' by Amy Simon
EVERYBODY LOVES ANGELS Amy Simon The very first time the Bible mentions the word “Cherub”, or the plural cherubim, is soon after the creation of the world. It is summarized in early teachings that they were originally depictions of storm deities, especially storm winds, a possible explanation for their wings. Later, this is described as acting as the chariot of the LORD in Ezekiel’s visions. As guardians, devoid of human emotion, they held duty to both represent God and guard his sanctuaries. It is here that after Adam and Eve were exiled from the Garden of Eden, the cherubim were stationed at the East end along the path that led to the Tree of Life. However, these particular cherubs are not those that we know today, small chubby benevolent babies who happen to bear wings, but a more ferocious ancestor. At their inception, as stated in scripture, these guardians of God’s work were alleged to have been a combination of characteristics. From Ezekiel’s description they reveal themselves to be compound figures, unlike any real object found in nature. They are artificial images possessing the features and properties of several different beings. Arriving, as he envisioned them, through a luminous cloud in perpetual motion as if in flames, Ezekiel was able to distinguish four beings. The cherubim had bodies of men with human faces in front, an eagle behind, a lion on the left, and an ox on the right. With hooves for feet they possessed arms that did not bend, for they were wings. These guardians carried the fire of the ever-turning sword.
