It is our pleasure to send you the second circular on the Nuclear Physics in V Conference (NPA5) that will be held at the Royal Garden Hotel in Eilat, Israel, on April 3-8, 2011.

This circular contains information on the general structure of the scientific program, registration, abstract submission, accommodations, excursions, conference proceedings and financial support. This information is also available and is regularly updated on the conference website: www.weizmann.ac.il/conferences/NPA5

Please note that registration, abstract submission and request for financial support are now open with the following deadlines:

1. Scientific program

The scientific program will include the following topics:

2. Venue and organization The conference venue is the Royal Garden Hotel in Eilat. The scientific sessions will be held at the auditorium of the adjacent Riviera Hotel. The conference will include a reception on Sunday evening, a poster session on Tuesday afternoon, a conference excursion on Wednesday afternoon and a banquet on Thursday evening.

3. Proceedings The Proceedings of NPA5 will be published in Journal of Physics (Conference Series).

4. Registration The registration fee will be 300 Eu. For individual members of the EPS, registration fee will be 270 Eu. Those rates are valid until February 15, 2011. After that date, registration fee will be 350 Eu, and 320 Eu for EPS members. The registration fee for students will be 200 Eu. The registration fee covers conference material, (including the Proceedings), reception, banquet, excursion, coffee breaks and all lunches Monday through Friday. Registration fee for accompanying persons will be 140 Eu, including reception, excursion and banquet.

The online registration to NPA5 is now open and is handled through the Indico system (you must register first to the Indico website of NPA5).

Payment can be made using one of the following credit cards: American Express, Mastercard and Visa. If this mode of payment is not suitable for you please contact the conference organizers.

Deadline for online registration: March 25, 2011. Beyond this date, registration will be available on site only.

5. Abstract submission Abstract submission is now open and is handled through the Indico system. You must register to the Indico website of NPA5 before submitting an abstract.

The accepted abstracts will be selected for an oral or poster presentation. A poster session is planned on Tuesday afternoon, April 5, 2011. The posters will be available for viewing for a longer period. Detailed instructions for preparing and hanging the posters will be provided in future announcements and on the conference website.

The deadline for abstract submission is December 1st, 2010. After the deadline, the conference organizers will review the abstracts submitted and will inform the presenting author whether the contribution has been accepted for oral or poster presentation.

6. Financial support The conference organizers encourage the participation of young scientists working on the topics covered by NPA5. Beyond the reduced registration fee for students of 200 Eu, students and post-docs (up to 5 years after the Ph.D.) are welcome to submit requests for partial support of travelling costs. Students and post-docs requiring financial support should send a brief CV, a brief description of their current research project and two letters of recommendation, one of which should be from their Ph.D. advisor or supervisor. They should also indicate if they plan to submit an abstract. This material, including the letters of recommendation, should be sent TOGETHER to the conference secretary by e-mail to: [email protected] or fax (+972-8-9344172).

There may be a possibility to support a limited number of exceptional requests by more senior colleagues.

The deadline for requesting financial support is December 15, 2010. The awards will be announced in the beginning of January 2011.

7. Accommodations The conference venue and main accommodation is the Royal Garden Hotel, a high standard hotel in Eilat’s Read Sea beachfront area. The Royal Garden hotel contains the most amazing water attractions found in Israel's hotels, including pools, slides and an abundance of adventures. The magnificent suites are equipped with the finest accessories while a wealth of fun activities await the whole family including a real theater, a French-style shopping boulevard, and much, much more.

Blocks of rooms have been reserved at the Royal Garden Hotel and the Isrotel Riviera Club hotels at reduced conference rates. The rooms will be confirmed on a first-come first-served basis. To benefit from the special conference rates you must book the hotel together with your registration to the conference.

The adjacent Riviera Club Hotel offers cheaper accommodations in 2 and 4-person apartments.

No payment or deposit is required for the hotel reservation at this stage. The total accommodation cost will be paid directly to the hotel at check out.

8. Cancellation Policy

Full refund of registration fees less bank charges will be made for cancellations received by fax or e-mail up to March 4, 2011. If registration is cancelled after March 4, 2011 bank charges and the sum equal to the price of 1 night stay in the conference hotel booked together with your registration will be withheld from the refund. If you reserve your own accommodation, the registration fee will be refunded minus bank charges

9. Social program Wednesday afternoon, April 6, is reserved for the conference excursion. At present, the organizers are examining two options, covering the main touristic attractions offered by Eilat surroundings, sea, desert and mountains. Details will be soon available on the conference website.

The conference dinner is planned for Thursday evening April 7.

A program of half day excursions is planned for accompanying persons on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, April 4, 5 and 7. Each excursion requires a minimum number of participants. Details will be posted on the conference website. There exists also a wide range of possibilities for pre- and post Conference excursions. Please see details on the website.

10. Travel and visas Eilat is a one hour flight time from Tel Aviv. The conference website provides information on regular commercial flights from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International airport and from Tel Aviv Sde Dov airport to Eilat as well as on other transportation options.

A visitor visa is NOT required for citizens of most countries, In case of doubt ask your travel agent, or contact the Israeli consulate in your country. If you need a visa to enter Israel, we recommend starting the application process as early as possible.

11. Hosts NPA5 is hosted by the Weizmann Institute of Science, in collaboration with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv University and Soreq Nuclear Research Center.
