FROM THE MANAGEMENT Good Evening and a warm but equally chilly welcome back to the ASM Stadium for tonight’s FA Trophy game against Bognor Regis Town. We hope Jack Pearce his management team, players, supporters and officials have a safe journey home later. Both sides come into tonight’s game having had an enforced break due to the national lockdown and the suspension of league games. No doubt, you will have seen the statements from the leagues at Step 3 & 4 and the decision to continue with the suspension of football at this level, disappointing for us all but a decision we respect. Let us hope for some positive news later this month and we are able to restart competitive football in the near future. Tonight’s game should be full of energy with players from both sides making the most of the opportunity playing again and desperate to progress into the next round. The month off has enabled us to recover from one or two knocks so we come into tonight’s game with a full squad giving us selection dilemma’s which is nice problem! The winner of tonight’s game will play the next round a week today after the draw tomorrow night, we will be doing everything we can for that to be us and extend another week of football! As we said earlier we expect a tough game tonight against a very good Bognor side who play at Step 3 and have made a good start to their league campaign. We will have to produce a top performance tonight, limit our mistakes and capitalise on any opportunities we get which we are very capable of. Let’s hope for a good entertaining game of football tonight. If tonight doesn’t go our way then it just leaves us all to wish you a very merry Christmas and lets all hope for a happy and healthy 2021. The Management Team. • SATURDAY 31St OCTOBER Buildbase FA Trophy Rushall Olympic (A)
Good evening and a very warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Rushall Olympic, we do hope you enjoy your short stay with us before having a safe journey home. Rushall have made a solid start to this season’s campaign suffering only one defeat in their first 7 league games. A competitive club that are always in and around the playoffs, they will be looking to continue that form. Managed by former Barwell players, Liam Macdonald and Nick Green, they will have done their homework on us, so as ever we will be expecting a tough encounter. A well run club from top to bottom and in their second year with an artificial pitch the club is a good role model for non-league football. Both clubs know that this encounter between us will take place again at Rushall on Saturday in the Buildbase FA Trophy, it’s ironic how these consecutive fixtures seem to happen. We finally got our first win against Nuneaton Borough, which has brought a lot of relief to all connected with the club. I’m sure that will bring a lot of confidence, let’s hope we can kick on from here and get back into the mix on the league front. Finally for tonight, I’m pleased to announce that Jason Ashby owner of UK Flooring Direct has agreed to extend his sponsorship for a further 3 years with the club. He has also made a five figure donation to our fundraising effort for our 3G pitch project. If you read this Jason, all of us at Barwell thank you for your commitment once again and wish you, your family and your business all the best for the future.

Main Sponsor Umbro is a British sportswear and football equipment supplier based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The company is currently a subsidiary of Iconix Brand Group. Umbro designs, sources, and markets football-related apparel, footwear, and equipment. Its products are sold in over 90 countries worldwide. The company was founded by Harold Humphreys, along with his brother Wallace in a small workshop in Wilmslow, Cheshire, inspired by the growing interest in football witnessed nationwide. The name "Umbro" is a quasi-portmanteau inspired from Humphreys Brothers Clothing. Umbro's kit debut was in the 1934 FA Cup final, when both teams Manchester City and Portsmouth wore uniforms designed and manufactured by the company. Other teams supplied by Umbro during the 1930s and 1940s were Sheffield United, Preston North End, Manchester United and Blackpool. Umbro was the official sports manufacturer of the English FA Cup and official sponsor of The FA, being the exclusive supplier of balls to the body's leagues. In 1952, the British team at the Summer Olympics wore Umbro kits, tailored for the needs of their individual sports. Umbro would supply kits for the British Olympics team for the next 20 years. In 1957 Umbro entered the tennis market, producing sports clothing in collaboration with player Ted Tinling. This collaboration extended for three decades. Another sportsman who collaborated with Umbro was Manchester United manager Matt Busby, in 1959. That same year the company started to sell its junior boys' kits, a set of shirt, shorts and socks that would allow young players to wear the same look as their footballing idols.

Today we G welcome our guests from GOSPORT BOROUGH FC to our home, and we hope they enjoy their short visit, and have a safe journey home to Hampshire’s south coast later tonight. My thanks go especially to Rachel Stone for providing details for this programme. Our visit to Gosport almost eight months ago produced a 2-1 defeat, but was a game that I think many of us felt we might have got some kind of result. A lot of water has passed under Staines Bridge since then, and ‘results’ have been few and far between, meaning that we’ve long since been relegated, but our visi- tors still have everything to play for as they try to preserve their Premier Division status. Just five years ago, Boro were looking forward to a trip to Wembley to contest the FA Trophy final, but a couple of years after they saw them beset by financial worries, which was to see them lose their place in the Conference South.
