This is your Camp and we want to make sure that you are able to extract the information you seek. cont’d on page 3 Materials & Swatch : Schoolhouse Press sets up a market room during camp where you can purchase wool, needles, patterns, books, and other tools; however, you are welcome to bring your own knitting supplies, and you will need to have a swatch started on which you may practice techniques. You will have your choice from among a number of small proJect handouts to knit from during camp. The purpose of each design is to employ techniques that may be new to you. An assortment of caps, hats, tams, mittens, and mini sweaters will provide opportunities for increasing, decreasing, color-pattern knitting, circular knitting, using double-pointed needles, steeks, knitting back-backward, stitching-&- cutting, weaving and I-Cord. Optional Homework Note : If you would like to knit a mini seamless yoke, or a mini stitch-&-cut Norwegian style sweater for your proJect (not required) and want a head start, please download the advance handouts for Camp 1 at http://www.schoolhousepress.com/camper-info • Wool/Needles : You will need 4 to 8 oz of medium-weight wool in 2 or more colors (to knit up at approx 5 sts to 1”), a 16 ” circular needle, and a set of d.p. needles to knit the proJects. • Swatch : Also bring along a knitted swatch (flat or circular) on needles to experiment with techniques as Meg demonstrates them. A swatch of a couple of inches should be sufficient. • Tools : Don’t forget to bring your favorite knitting tools. As we mentioned above, we will have a full range of supplies available for you to purchase at Camp if you are traveling light. • Show & Tell: please bring an item such as a completed garment of which you are most proud, or a disaster from which you can warn the rest of us…or maybe an item in progress about which you need advice. Though there is time to show only one or two garments, we encourage you to bring and wear other items you’ve knit as a way to informally show those as well. (Show and Tell is optional.) • Name Tag: please knit (or otherwise create) a name tag to wear each day during camp. It’s a helpful tool in getting to know one another. We’ll see you in July!
