The release's final song, " Empire of the Clouds ", replaces "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from 's Powerslave as the band's longest song at 18 minutes in duration. The Book of Souls is also Book of Souls second album in Iron Maiden's history following 's Somewhere in Time in which Harris has not written or co-written any of its released singles. At 92 minutes in Book of Souls, it is both the longest Iron Maiden studio album and their first double studio record. At Metacriticthe album holds a score of 80 out of based on 20 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Rolling Stone and Billboard were more critical, rating it 3. Having stalked the planet like some imperious, multi-limbed colossus for more than 35 years, fuelled by creative verve, an unerring dedication to hard work and an uncompromising vision, Iron Maiden arrive in buoyed by an enviable reputation and the love of millions, but also weighed down by fearsome levels of expectation. Admittedly, the Book of Souls of every new Iron Maiden album is a major event. In metal terms, Iron Maiden are immortals. Living legends. But late inthey were suddenly confronted with the prospect of losing their singer and, as a result, hitting the dreaded career buffers with a chilling thud of finality. As the release of The Book Of Souls draws closer, we speak to all six members of the band about the turmoil of the past year and the creation of what may be Book of Souls finest record that Iron Maiden have ever Book of Souls Bruce sits back and takes a deep breath, Book of Souls jarred by the memory but still smiling because, as we all now know, this tale has a happy ending. He sounds better than ever, so there was no indication that there was a problem with his throat, but lo and behold, he had a test and it came back that he had a tumour. It was scary stuff. Job done. Everything tastes like cardboard, plasticine or sand. But what got me through was custard! The inside of your mouth disintegrates for a period of time Basically, I am my own science project! Rewind a few months to the autumn Book of Souls Returning to an old stomping ground, they were in high spirits after completing another round of momentous touring that culminated in an all-guns-blazing performance Book of Souls the hallowed Knebworth turf at Sonisphere. In contrast to some of their arena-filling peers, all six members of Maiden were raring to go, armed with fresh ideas and thrilled by a new opportunity to make music together. I loved being in Paris, for Book of Souls couple of months. It was the end of the summer and it was beautiful, and inspiring all around. Everyone felt that and it really clicked. And it was familiar territory, which helps a lot. But there was a wonderful feeling in the studio. Everyone brought ideas, we recorded songs when Book of Souls were fresh and everyone played incredibly well. These are challenging songs but they pulled it off. Indeed, something special happens when these six guys pool their talents. Maiden consistently defy the usual laws of veteran bands as they near the end of their careers. As far as those involved are concerned, album 16 was approached with the same passion and intensity that informed its 15 predecessors. Finally, and most significantly, The Book Of Souls begins and ends with songs written entirely by Bruce — If Eternity Should Failquite simply the heaviest opening track in Maiden history, and Empire Of The Cloudsa sprawling, complex and audacious tribute to the Book of Souls final journey of the R airship in I did! I won an electric piano in a raffle. I got it home and started playing around with it. It was around the time that Jon Lord4 got sick. We were talking about possibly working together at the Book of Souls, so I Book of Souls mucking about with some things. Sadly Jon left us, but I continued to muck around on the piano. That was the genesis of the whole thing. The big surprise was how theatrical it became. Nothing is superfluous. This is an absolute masterpiece But better. Ha ha ha! But while all six members were clearly delighted by the recording experience, The Book Of Souls was not created without a little Book of Souls bringing an edge Book of Souls darkness to the songs. But you can turn it into a positive. But one silver lining lurking behind Book of Souls black cloud is that The Book Of Souls is a much more collaborative effort than most, with everyone except Nicko scoring at least one writing credit. But beyond the finer details, the most striking thing about the album is how cohesive, engaging, substantial and, most of all, exciting it is. As a double album, it does exactly what double Book of Souls should do! Once again, there is a strange symmetry to The Book Of Souls.

    Robert Cray Bio 2014 With 5 Grammy Awards, 15 nominations, millions of record sales worldwide, and thousands of sold out performances, rock blues icon Robert Cray is considered “one of the greatest guitarists of his generation.” Rolling Stone Magazine in their April 2011 issue credits Cray with reinventing the blues with his “distinct razor sharp guitar playing” that “introduced a new generation of mainstream rock fans to the language and form of the blues” with the release of his Strong Persuader album in 1986. Since then, Cray has gone on to record fifteen Billboard charting studio albums and has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. Recently inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57, he is one of the youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor. And while he can look back over an astonishing three-decade career punctuated by his trademark sound and distinct playing style, Robert Cray is too busy moving forward on an amazing journey that has him releasing his sixteenth studio album and embarking on yet another world tour.
