Arrangerar alt frå junior NM og eliteturneringar til uhøgtidlege juleturneringar i lokala sine på Sørbøvåg. Sidan 1991 har klubben arrangert den årvisse «Hyllestad Open»-turneringa med stor oppslutnad frå både lokale og nasjonale spelarar. Måndagar er det trening for nybegynnarar frå klokka 17.30. Onsdagar frå klokka 18.00 er det «handikapturnering», denne er open for alle. The local billiards club has nurtured players to Norwegian and European top class. BILJARDGRUPPA At their premises in Sørbøvåg the club arranges everything from junior National Championships and elite tournaments to Christmas tournaments. Since 1991 the club has hosted the annual ”Hyllestad Open” tournament with great support from both local and national players. W srody od 18.00 jest turniej dla kazdego. Samlingsplass for gruppa er friidrettsanlegget rundt fotballbana på Hyllestad. Laget er eit samarbeid med Dale IL og er meldt på som samarbeidslag Hyllestad/Dale2. Seniorlaget har Hyllestad stadion som treningsbane og spelar alle sine heimekampar her. Trening kvar tysdag og torsdag. Aldersbestemt fotball er den største gruppa i idrettslaget, alle laga spelar heimekampane sine på Hyllestad stadion og trenar kvar tysdag. Hyllestad Sports Club has senior football team in the 5th division. The group also work with marking walking routes, clearing paths, recording summit visits and organises the annual climb of the Lihest mountain.     The Norwegian Millstone Landscape Millstones are among the most widespread and abundant artifacts from the past. They can be seen at farms, in gardens, in dry-stone walls and along streams long after the mill itself has disappeared. We intuitively know that there are many stories behind these well-crafted objects that have been so central in mankind’s history; however, most of these stories are lost. Particularly this applies to the ‘life’ of the millstone before it was put to use: the history of extensive quarry landscapes, craftsmanship, quality measures, millstone trade – aspects that collectively form a rich cultural landscape. This project seeks to shed new light on the physical and historical aspects of these multi- faceted landscapes through comprehensive surveys and interdisciplinary research. 1. Relevance to the call The Norwegian Millstone Landscape focuses on the historical narrative of quarrying, processing and trade of specific stone resources crucial to the production of the most fundamental food, flour. The shaping of extensive cultural landscapes by millstone quarrying provides a rich historical re- cord of the social, economic and political processes that surrounded food production for over 1500 years. Moreover, the consumption of millstones at local, regional and international scales represents conduits in the evolution of trade and social networks that grew around the millstone quarrying in- dustry, and that define an ‘extended millstone landscape’. Today, the socio-cultural and economic values of these millstone landscapes are at best greatly underestimated or, at worst, completely un- known. Undertaken by an interdisciplinary research team comprising the disciplines of geology, archaeology, history and landscape geography, this project addresses the proposal call by develop- ing methods for characterisation and reconstruction of the Norwegian millstone landscapes as a narrative that links the past with the present in a common heritage.

The landscape and its production sites must be safeguarded for the future while at the same time the sustainable development of the area and the local communities must be safeguarded. The management plan will thus function as a tool to balance the need for the protection and conservation of the cultural landscape and the accessibility and economic development of the local environment. This management plan is based on a previous management plan for the quernstone landscape in the municipality of Hyllestad, which was prepared by Aurland Landscapeworks in 2008 (Håland and Knagenhjelm 2008). However, in conjunction with the UNESCO nomination, it has proved necessary to fine-tune the management plan more specifically towards potential World Heritage status. The first edition of the management plan was prepared in 2011.

    Past slope collapse and current unstable slopes along a cliff at Hyllestad Kommune Vegard Nes Geology Submission date: June 2018 Supervisor: Reginald Hermanns, IGP Co-supervisor: Ivanna Penna, NGU Norwegian University of Science and Technology Department of Geoscience and Petroleum Abstract With the aim of a complete national database of potential unstable slopes, the Geological Survey of Norway currently carries out systematic geological mapping of rock slopes organized in counties. As part of the survey of Sogn og Fjordane, a hazard and preliminary consequence assessment of a north-facing cliff in Hyllestad municipality has been completed within this thesis. Two independent inventories were assembled, one on unstable rock slopes along the cliff face, the other on post-glacial rock slope failure deposits. In total 9 unstable slopes were detected, that present a total of 14 failure scenarios. In order to determine the hazard, the Norwegian hazard classification system was used. This comprises in mapping out the limiting structures, defining structural control, and a kinematic feasibility test of failures. In addition, at two sites displacement rates have been measured by dGNSS and extensometers, for the other, these were assessed based on morphological expression of deformation. Rockfall activity was assessed on a 3D photogrammetric model. The resulting hazard classification classified 12 of the scenarios to a medium hazard class, while 2 of the scenarios were classified with low hazard. The preliminary consequence assessment consisted of volume calculations based on delimiting structures and a run-out analysis considering the potential for initiating displacement waves. Of the detected scenarios, 3 have volumes defined that can fail as rock avalanches with excessive travel lengths.
