Happy New Year! Well, We’Re All Just Making the Most of the Last Few Weeks at Home Before We Embark on What Is Looking to Be a Very Busy Year… NEWS Happy New Year! Well, we’re all just making the most of the last few weeks at home before we embark on what is looking to be a very busy year…. but before I tell you about what’s coming up, I’d like to say a huge THANK YOU for your continued support and give a quick review of last year. 2007 In Review Since the release of ‘Upside Down’ in March, we’ve some US dates later in the year. Next month will see had some fantastic response with the album getting us touring up and down the UK visiting quite a few the best reviews of any I’ve done so far! Radio 2’s Bob new places and then in March, it’s off to Germany to Harris played tracks from it over a few weeks before I begin our spring tour that will also include Austria, went into the studio to do a live session with him. This Switzerland, Holland and Belgium. was a real highlight for me because he really is such a cool guy with a genuine passion for music. Next came Of course with such a hectic schedule coming up I a live session with the band at BBC’s Maida Vale Studios thought it was about time to upgrade the blues-bus in June for the Paul Jones Show. For this we got to with something a bit more… well… spangly. Is that a work with Mike Harding, the same engineer that did word? When we tour we cover thousands of miles and all the Led Zeppelin BBC Sessions. Of course as soon it’s not uncommon for us to spend up to 8 hours a day as Rich revealed his John Bonham Signature kit, Mike in there every day for weeks on end. So, just before we gave his seal of approval! embark on our crazy schedule, I will be taking delivery of our new ride from ‘ABC Nightliners’ in Cambridge, Along with some great write-ups, those lovely people home of “The X-Factor Bus” at Classic Rock Magazine also featured me in their top 10 Contemporary Blues Artists. I was rather chuffed when I saw that!!! Last year also saw the new website going live in June. Since then those funky people at Purple Dogfish have kept tweaking it and changing bits here and there to improve it. Of course any feedback is always very welcome – anything you think we can do to improve the site, then just drop us a line. It was also about this time that I started working with ARM Management. I’m happy to say that looking forward, things are looking very exciting indeed! Latest News… This year starts off with a hectic touring schedule that will take in the UK, most of Europe and then hopefully After our European jaunt we return to the UK in May so keep an ear out at gigs… you never know what you for what could be the highlight of the touring year - an might hear!! In relation to this, I might also be doing eighteen-date tour of the UK with ROBIN TROWER. some production work for other artists too, which is ROBIN TROWER, rock guitar legend, first found fame cool as I do love being in the studio. in the seventies with Procol Harum, before departing, with his own band for the USA. See you all won’t happen next time. soon... We are currently looking to tour the UK again in November so let us have any suggestions of venues or Aynsley cities for the band to play. www.aynsleylister.co.uk Anyone who came to see us towards the end of last year will have seen the new merchandise range we have launched. Along with some funky new t-shirts in some rather eye catching colours, we will be adding lots of other bits and pieces over the next few months. With the current line proving very popular, we plan to run small limited numbers of shirts in one off colours and designs. We’ll let you know as and when we do this. On the recording front, we should hopefully be going into the studio to do a new album later this year. Read Full Biography Overview Biography Discography Songs Credits Related Share on Artist Biography by Greg Prato Throughout his long and winding solo career, guitarist Robin Trower has had to endure countless comparisons to Jimi Hendrix due to his uncanny ability to channel Hendrix's bluesy/psychedelic, Fender Strat-fueled playing style. Born on March 9, 1945 in Catford, England, Trower spent the early '60s playing guitar in various London-based outfits, the most successful being the R&B group the Paramounts, who specialized mostly in covers, but managed to issue several singles between 1963 and 1965. It wasn't until 1967 that Trower received his big break, however, when he joined Procol Harum. The group had just scored a worldwide smash hit with "A Whiter Shade of Pale," but the only problem was that the band's leader, singer/pianist Gary Brooker, didn't have a proper band to back him. Brooker was previously a bandmate of Trower's in the Paramounts, and offered the guitar slot in his new fast-rising project to his old friend. As a result, Trower appeared on such Procol Harum classics as 1967's Procol Harum, 1968's Shine on Brightly, 1969's A Salty Dog, 1970's Home (which spawned the popular Trower tune "Whiskey Train"), and 1971's Broken Barricades. While Procol Harum helped launch Trower's career, the guitarist realized there was limited space for his guitar work and eventually left for a solo career.

  • The Twenty Greatest Music Concerts I've Ever Seen
THE TWENTY GREATEST MUSIC CONCERTS I'VE EVER SEEN Whew, I'm done. Let me remind everyone how this worked. I would go through my Ipod in that weird Ipod alphabetical order and when I would come upon an artist that I have seen live, I would replay that concert in my head. (BTW, since this segment started I no longer even have an ipod. All my music is on my laptop and phone now.) The number you see at the end of the concert description is the number of times I have seen that artist live. If it was multiple times, I would do my best to describe the one concert that I considered to be their best. If no number appears, it means I only saw that artist once. Mind you, I have seen many artists live that I do not have a song by on my Ipod. That artist is not represented here. So although the final number of concerts I have seen came to 828 concerts (wow, 828!), the number is actually higher. And there are "bar" bands and artists (like LeCompt and Sam Butera, for example) where I have seen them perform hundreds of sets, but I counted those as "one," although I have seen Lecompt in "concert" also. Any show you see with the four stars (****) means they came damn close to being one of the Top Twenty, but they fell just short. So here's the Twenty. Enjoy and thanks so much for all of your input. And don't sue me if I have a date wrong here and there.

One of the biggest rock events of the summer “Rock In Haapsalu 2017” will bring the greatest rock legends of the world to a small town. One of the biggest rock music festivals “Rock In Haapsalu” will take place on 28–29 July 2017 at Haapsalu Castle. The two-day festival will bring the best of the rock classics from here and abroad to the magical small town. Every time something takes place in Haapsalu, it somehow makes its way into peoples’ hearts and minds. What happens in Haapsalu leaves nobody indifferent, as the town has its own character, its own aura. Haapsalu is old and ancient. Legendary. In every sense of the word. And the same is true for whatever takes place in Haapsalu. It becomes an indelible memory, it remains within us. Haapsalu is almost the only place in Estonia besides Tallinn that sees regular performances by international megastars and related events. This is because people love visiting Haapsalu and the events are always highly anticipated. Now, something great is once again in the air, something that will be Haapsalu’s very own. On the two days of the festival, visitors can enjoy and cheer on performers whose unforgettable hits have conquered music charts and the hearts of fans all over the world, have been a part of our youth, and meant so much to us at one point. Timeless hits that neither time nor the onslaught of new music has managed to erase from our hearts. The two-day trip of nostalgia will take you back to your youth, a time when you listened to your favourites’ music from vinyl records and tape recorders, when your walls were decorated with black and white photos of your idols.

  • 69 Faces of Rock
3/29/2011 69 Faces of Rock by Mark Kadzielawa Robin Trower is one of the premiere British guitar players. Trower first came on the scene with Procol Harum, with whom he released 5 albums from 1967 to 1972. Once he left Procol Harum, Trower began a very successful solo career. Since 1973, he released 25 records, the latest being "The Playful Heart." Trower re-joined Procol Harum in 1991 for the "Prodigal Stranger" album, and enjoyed great collaborations with Jack Bruce in the early 80s, and even lent his talents to Bryan Ferry for a few solo records. But it was his solo output that made Robin Trower the respected and accomplished artist he is today. Robin Trower shows no signs of slowing down. He reunited with his former singer, Davey Pattison, back in 2003, and continues to release quality material on regular basis. His new album, "The Playful Heart," is fantastic, and truly shows what Robin Trower is all about. He is a classic guitar player with an unforgivable tone, and a forward thinking attitude. Robin Trower talks about the incredible amount of creative energy in the last few years, and his unstoppable will to always better himself as a player and a songwriter. Since you’ve released “Another Day Blues” back in 2003, you’ve become very consistent as far as touring and making records. What caused this sudden change? Robin Trower: I think I had a quite a burst of creativity happen because I started to get into a habit of playing every day at home.

  • Dave Hartl's 2020 Top Ten (Or So) Most Influential Albums
Dave Hartl’s 2020 Top Ten (Or So) Most Influential Albums It’s time once again to look back and do that annual tradition of picking out the 10 or so most influential albums I heard in the past year. Not the most popular, or even the best, but what made me think the most as a musician. You can always go to http://www.davehartl.com/top10.html and look at all the other years’ postings. The links there go all the way back to 1998, when I started this with George Tucker. It’s a way of hearing about great music you might otherwise miss. If you want to contribute your thoughts, please write to [email protected] with your own list and your contribution will be added to this document online for future downloads. This is why I do this! It always gives me some great recommendations for what to listen to that would be off my radar otherwise. So, don’t be shy! Last year, I didn’t bother doing this; in an age of streaming, the idea of an album almost seems quaint. But I seem to like my music in organized wholes, and admire the art of the album compilation. So, I’ll try again. If no one responds, I may make this the last. Procol Harum: Still There’ll Be More I’ve liked Procol Harum since they released “A Salty Dog” way back when. I saw them on the “Grand Hotel” tour, too late to catch the original lineup with Robin Trower but still amazingly good, and again in the early 2000’s opening for Jethro Tull.
