The breed is used today almost exclusively as a family companion and house guardian. The United Kennel Club recognized the Dogue de Bordeaux on January 1, 1995. GENERAL APPEARANCE The Dogue de Bordeaux is a well-balanced, massive, powerfully-built dog with a very muscular body and a short coat.
