Qualità sonora e remastering eccellenti nonostante l'epoca di registrazione, sono stati utilizzati i nastri originali RIAS. The Quartetto Italiano was the first of the new post-war groups that inaugurated a new golden age of String Quartets: the Quartetto Italiano was formed in 1945, the Juilliard String Quartet and LaSalle Quartet in 1946, and the Janáček and Amadeus quartets in 1947. Audite here brings us three CDs worth of fabulous recordings for RIAS ("Radio in the American Sector" of Berlin). The RIAS studios were excellent, and their engineers highly accomplished, so we have (as with the Amadeus Quartet album I reviewed late last year) an excellent idea of how these musicians sounded, in this case between 1951 to 1963.

  • VITAE PRE-SELECTION JURY Oliver Kipp
VITAE PRE-SELECTION JURY Oliver Kipp Oliver Kipp studied violin at the Hanover University of Mu- sic, Media and Drama with Atila Aydintan and Berlin with Thomas Brandis. Further impulses in the field of chamber music came from Hatto Beyerle (AlBan Berg Quartet), Walter Levin (LaSalle Quartet), Uwe-Martin HaiBerg (Brahms Quartet) and György SeBök. Oliver Kipp received his training as an orchestral musician during his studies as a member of the "European Community Youth Orchestra" (1987-1993), with the NDR Radiophilharmonie Orchestra (1991-1993) and as a guest of the Berliner Philharmoniker (1994-1998). Since 1998 he has Been the section leader of the NDR Radiophilharmonie Orchestra. In 1999 he founded the Hyperion Trio, with which he won the International Johannes Brahms Com- petition in 2001. Since then there has been extensive concert activity with this ensemble, with whom he founded the festival "Klanginsel Helgoland" in 2016. The aim of the festival - and of his chamber music work in general - is to juxtapose well-known masterpieces with rarely performed works in order to trace Biographical or music-historical contexts. In many cases, this work has led to first recordings of the unknown works (such as in the CD productions Joseph Marx, Julius Röntgen, Robert Kahn, Felix Woyrsch and RuBin Goldmark). These recordings for the labels CPO and Thoro- fon/Bella Musica are regularly highly praised By the specialist press. In 2020 a complete recording of the works for piano trio by Carl Reinecke will be released (including his version for piano trio of the Triple Concerto op. 56 by Ludwig van Beethoven).
