Eternal Peace Grant Unto Her, O Lord Thank you for your cooperation. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION On this Sunday, our attention is drawn to an enriched diet of scripture readings in the liturgy’s three-year cycle. Forty years ago, there was merely one set of readings for Sun, March 15 Sunday: two readings only, an Epistle, and a 2:15pm Baptisms (Church) Gospel. Each Sunday of the year had two readings, and they never varied from year to Tues, March 17 year. In the late 1960s, we received an 3:30pm Religious Education (School) enriched book of readings (a lectionary) keyed to a course of 7:30pm Folk Group Rehearsal (Raimondo Hall) readings over three years, named A, B, and C. The architects of this new plan realized that in Jesus’ time, it took three years Wed, March 18 to read through the Law and the Prophets completely in 3:30pm Religious Education (School) synagogue worship. With the renewed liturgy, our worship has embraced this same rhythm that Jesus experienced in Thurs, March 19 public prayer. 7:00pm Choir Rehearsal (Church) This year we are using the readings from Year B. The readings for Year A, however, are closely attuned to the Church’s work Fri, March 20 of preparing to celebrate baptism at Easter. When the worship 7:30pm Stations of the Cross (Church) assembly includes people in the final stages of preparation, the Year B readings will often be set aside in favor of the readings Sat, March 21 from Year A, which this week include the story of the woman at 11:00am Confessions (Church) the well. She is a fitting companion for those thirsting for living water. PRAYER FOR LENT I know that at times I will be troubled, I know that at times I will be belabored, LORD’S PRAYER I know that at times I will be disquieted, part of the penitential tone of Lent, But I believe that I will not be overcome we will not be singing the Our Father ...Saint Julian of Norwich LENTEN FRIDAY ABSTINENCE For those 14 years of age and older: On the Fridays of Lent we are to refrain from meat. By now, everyone knows about the Mary & Cesidio Cugini Coronavirus (COVID-19), which is being talked about all over the world. Maryann Cugini & Monica Erdman It seems that as more and more cases are being reported daily, panic and Gaetano & Amilia D’Arco anxiety grow. Ronald Darminio Rose & Paul DeFonzo First of all, I believe in facts over emotion. We get the name “Corona” virus because Corona means “crown” in Spanish, and the virus Dellamonica Family itself looks like a crown under a microscope. Gennaro & Elizabeth DiPalma Robert & Margaret Engel How exactly it spreads in not yet fully known, except that we know Joseph, Ines & Michael Falcone & Rachel Panza that when someone sneezes or coughs the respiratory droplets can enter Furgiuele Family another person’s lungs. Joseph, Gloria & Thomas Galasso Carlo & Marco Gardini It also appears that those who are at most risk are the elderly, Robert & Elizabeth Haughney whose immune systems aren’t as strong as a younger person’s.
