He then relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, to attend Surgical and Otolaryngology Residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. Upon completion of his educational training, Dr. Mansfield relocated to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he was assigned to Womack Army Medical Center and acted as the Battalion Medical Officer for the 2-505 Parachute Infantry Regiment in the 82nd Airborne Division. He also served as the Chief of Otolaryngology Services at Womack Army Medical Center from 1998-2001. During this time, he deployed to Kosovo with the 2-505 Parachute Infantry Regiment. After his military service, he opened Cape Fear Otolaryngology in Fayetteville, an ear, nose, and throat medical practice. After 15 successful years in practice in Fayetteville, Dr. Mansfield moved to Holly Springs, North Carolina, to give his wife the opportunity to attend law school at North Carolina Central and his son the opportunity to enroll in the Engineering Academy at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. After four years, Dr. Mansfield saw the need for an otolaryngologist in the community and opened Holly Springs Ear, Nose, Throat & Allergy in March 2018. In addition to the field of medicine, Dr. Mansfield shares multiple interests. In 2001, he was ordained as a minister in the Union Baptist Association. He served as pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC; associate minister of Lewis Chapel Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC; and interim pastor of the historic Oberlin Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. He currently serves as an associate minister at Mount Peace Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Mansfield serves on the Board of Trustees for Saint Augustine University in Raleigh, NC, and the North Carolina Justice Center. He has taken on the challenge of CrossFit and is an avid member of CrossFit Shoofly in Fuquay-Varina. Dr. Mansfield is married to Donna Mansfield and is the proud father of Erica and Thomas.
