This publication provides contact information for officials through- out the state and includes information about personnel within exec- utive branch departments, the General Assembly and the judiciary. Additionally, you will find the most recent municipal classifications and results of the 2018 general election. The strength of our great state depends on open communication and honest, civil debate; we have been given an incredible oppor- tunity to model this for the next generation. The governor is elected to a four-year term during the same year as a presidential election and may seek re-election to a second four-year term. No person may hold the office for more than two terms. The governor appoints the members of all boards and commissions, the heads of all departments in state government and all vacancies in public offices unless otherwise provided by law. The board members of Missouri’s state universities and colleges are appointed by the governor. The governor also selects the members of the Supreme and Appellate Courts of Missouri from names submitted by the State Judicial Commissions. Governor Michael L. The lieutenant governor is elected for a four year term and is subject to re-election. The Missouri Constitution states that the lieutenant governor shall serve as the ex officio president of the Missouri Senate. In addition, upon the death, conviction, impeachment, resignation, absence from the state or other disabilities of the governor, the lieutenant governor shall act as governor. By law, the lieutenant governor is a member of the Board of Public Buildings, the Board of Fund Commissioners, the Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe Development Finance Board, the Missouri Housing Development Commission, the Missouri Tourism Commission, the Missouri veterans. The lieutenant governor leads the State Capitol Commission, and the Missouri state’s Buy Missouri efforts in support of Community Service Commission. The Missouri manufacturers, businesses, and lieutenant governor serves as the formal employees. The office of the lieutenant advocate of Missouri’s senior citizens governor is a clearinghouse for citizen and informal governmental advocate for questions regarding state government.     All eyes were on the Senate floor this week as Senator Mike Cierpiot (R-Lee’s Summit) rose to rebuke the Senate’s Conservative Caucus. Senator Cierpiot is renowned for a quiet, steady demeanor so his prepared commentary was a surprise to nearly everyone. Several of the conservative caucus members ruffled at Senator Cierpiot’s publicly shared viewpoint and admonished him for taking his grievances to the Senate floor as opposed to handling them privately. The question that remains is whether this interfamily fight will have lasting consequences. Border war The House Economic Development Committee met Monday evening to consider passage of SB 182, sponsored by Senator Mike Cierpiot (R-Lee’s Summit). The bill modifies provisions relating to the issuance of certain incentives to businesses relocating from certain counties in Kansas and Missouri. The proposal is in response to what is commonly referred to as the “border war” and will help curb lease jumping and abuse of economic development tools within an eight-county region surrounding Kansas City. During committee discussion, substitute language was adopted to remove Kansas’ Douglas County. Once modified, the committee passed the bill by a 10-0 vote. Transportation bonding The Senate dedicated floor time Monday afternoon to revisit SCR 14, sponsored by Senator Dave Schatz (R-Sullivan). The bonding resolution funds construction and repair of 215 bridges within the state highway system, not to exceed $301,000,000. Bond duration is limited to seven years, which sums to an annual payment of $46,000,000. The deal is contingent upon receiving a grant from the federal government for road and bridge purposes.

    Actors' Stories are a SAG Awards® Tradition When the first Screen Actors Guild Awards® were presented on March 8, 1995, the ceremony opened with a speech by Angela Lansbury introducing the concept behind the SAG Awards and the Actor® statuette. During her remarks she shared a little of her own history as a performer: "I've been Elizabeth Taylor's sister, Spencer Tracy's mistress, Elvis' mother and a singing teapot." She ended by telling the audience of SAG Awards nominees and presenters, "Tonight is dedicated to the art and craft of acting by the people who should know about it: actors. And remember, you're one too!" Over the Years This glimpse into an actor’s life was so well received that it began a tradition of introducing each Screen Actors Guild Awards telecast with a distinguished actor relating a brief anecdote and sharing thoughts about what the art and craft mean on a personal level. For the first eight years of the SAG Awards, just one actor performed that customary opening. For the 9th Annual SAG Awards, however, producer Gloria Fujita O'Brien suggested a twist. She observed it would be more representative of the acting profession as a whole if several actors, drawn from all ages and backgrounds, told shorter versions of their individual journeys. Very soon we will have the opportunity to repeal so- called “Right to Work” by voting NO on Prop A on August 7. In 1978, I was just starting my career as a carpenter. I didn’t know at the time just how critical my vote on this issue was, but the older members made sure we understood our careers depended on it. Here we are 40 years later, and I’m nearing the end of my career. This issue is just as important and our votes are even more critical this time. The same out-of-state corporate interests are still trying to hurt working families in Missouri. They lost in 1978, and we’re doing everything to ensure they lose again on August 7. Thanks to the hard work of thousands of volunteers—you’re likely among them—and the more than 310,000 Missourians who signed the petition to get our repeal on the ballot, we have the chance to defeat “Right to Work” once again.

Everybody Loves Raymond, a very popular American sitcom broadcast on CBS, ran from 1996 to 2005. The show revolved around the life of Ray Barone, a News Paper sportswriter from Long Island, his wife, Debra, daughter, Ally, and identical twin sons, Geoffrey and Michael. Ray has imposing parents and a jealous, insecure brother, Robert. They are found most of the time in the living room of Ray. Debra, Ray's wife is sick of this routine that had turned her in to a cranky yelling woman, but tolerates for the love of her husband. Ray’s parents and brother never give Ray or his family a moment of peace. Ray often finds himself in the middle of someone else's problems. He is usually the one blamed for everyone else's troubles. Based on the real-life experiences of Ray Romano, Everybody Loves Raymond premiered on September 13, 1996, on CBS. The series finale was broadcast on May 16, 2005, though old episodes are still rerun on cable network TBS and in daily syndication.
