The Sterling Ranch and Vineyard is rooted in the acclaimed Talmage Bench, 5 minutes from the City of Ukiah in the heart of Mendocino County. What’s so special about the 116- acre property is the Pinole gravelly loam and Yokayo sandy loam soil. Elevated above the valley floor off Old River Road, the ranch is planted to 79 acres of benchland wine grapes. This area has traditionally commanded premium pricing for Bordeaux varietal reds, including Zinfandel. The vineyard is planted to predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with a healthy amount of Zinfandel and a little over 11 acres of Chenin Blanc. The lifeline to any vineyard is its water and the quality thereof. The vineyard has one main well with a recent well test of 245 +/- gallons per minute and two on-site reservoirs. The reservoirs have licensed water rights from the State of California. Water is delivered to the ranch through overhead solid set sprinklers to combat any potential frost and drip lines for irrigation during the summer months. The spectacular vista views from the ranch overlook the entire Talmage Bench to the North and Ukiah Valley to the west. It isn’t very easy to assess where the best homesite on the ranch would be as there are many great views for your dream home. www.norcalvineyards.com www.norcalvineyards.com PagePage 4 Vineyard Photo Gallery www.norcalvineyards.com Page 5 www.norcalvineyards.com Page 5 www.norcalvineyards.com www.norcalvineyards.com PagePage 6 6 Block Map Page 7 www.norcalvineyards.com Page 7 Harvest www.norcalvineyards.com Page 8 www.norcalvineyards.com Page 8 Aerial Map www.norcalvineyards.com Page 8 www.norcalvineyards.com Page 9 County Overview www.norcalvineyards.comwww.norcalvineyards.com PagePage 10 9 Tom Larson CalBRE # 01057428 Tony Ford President / Broker CalBRE # 01406167 Cellular: 707.433.8000 Wine Enthusiast / Sales [email protected] Cellular: 707.391.5950 [email protected] www.norcalvineyards.com 1913 Hyde Street, San Francisco, CA 94109 737 4th Street, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 338 Healdsburg Avenue, Healdsburg, CA 95448 601 South State Street, Ukiah, CA 95482 A Division of Luxe Places International Realty www.norcalvineyards.comThis information herein believed reliable but not guaranteed. • 2010: Year of the Woman in Wine
2010: Year of the Woman in Wine By The Tasting Panel Editorial Team Issue: JanuaryFebruary 2010 Amelia Ceja President, Ceja Vineyards Napa Valley As one of the few Latina women in wine in California, Amelia Ceja is determined to help shape the future of the consumer’s comprehension of—and abilities in—pairing food and wine. “I want to be thought of as being instrumental in breaking down the barriers of the mystification of wine,” says Amelia, who was appointed President of the Carnerosbased winery when it was founded in 1999. “Before we even press our fruit, we know the elements that we want to show up in the wine,” she insists. It is Amelia’s culinary expertise that gifts her with an insight to work with winemaker (and brotherinlaw) Armando Ceja to help discover similar flavors in the wines that also exist in food. “It was that knowledge that gave me the confidence to run the business,” she points out. “There are not a lot of women in power in our industry, so I am proud to be one of the female leaders to promote the wines, through my online cooking show and our winerelated blogs, showcasing global cuisine and wine exploration.” The first vintage of Ceja, released in 2001, consisted of three varietals—Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Merlot—totaling 750 cases. Today, the winery produces over a dozen varietals and a growing production of 10,000 cases. Flagship wine: “Armando tells me the Ceja Pinot Noir reminds him of me,” Amelia laughs.

More from Features Certainly, a modest, qualitative approach will be more successful than a forced-march strategy that attempts to generate the maximum number of winery visits. There is something for everyone at every winery, whether it's an update on current winemaking methods, a historical walking tour or simply a taste of the new vintage. As always, wine lovers should tackle the tasting game in a responsible manner. Even with a designated driver among your party, a little sip here and there can add up to an unpleasant experience.

  • 2013 Meritage
2013 MERITAGE Sterling Vineyards wines express true varietal character—that set of aromas and flavors a grape variety develops when grown in the terroir that suits it best. Carefully selected winemaking methods highlight each wine’s unique personality and guarantee the high quality that distinguishes our reputation. Sterling Vintner’s Collection offers hand-crafted, approachable selections sourced from diverse terroirs and priced to be enjoyed every day. VINTAGE With near ideal conditions throughout the growing season, 2013 was another generous vintage for both vintners and growers. It began with a warm and dry spring, followed by moderate tempera- tures through summer. Harvest was remarkably smooth without any major frost events or heat spikes. Across the board, the fruit showed great balance, complexity, and varietal intensity. VINEYARD We sourced our fruit from several vineyards throughout the Central Coast known for the temperate weather and long growing season. The largest portion comes from San Lucas Valley, which is nestled against the foothills of southern Monterey County. Here, steady coastal breezes frame warm, sunny days, encouraging ripe fruit and big, dynamic tannins. Paso Robles, with its large diurnal temperatures swings, produces bold, berry flavors with spicy highlights. From Paicines, in east Monterey County, we get a rugged, brambly character that completes the profile. WINEMAKING SOURCING: “Big Bordeaux varietals require taming and care to make sure the bold fruit and big tannins are Central Coast properly managed – from harvest through aging,” says Winemaker Monica Belavic. In the vineyard, we began by walking the rows each day, looking for perfect flavor and tannin ripeness VARIETAL COMPOSITION: before picking.
