Dear Holme Valley Parish Council

On behalf of the River Holme Connections team I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you for your kind contribution of £4,994 to the “Thongsbridge wild space” project.

We installed 120 metres of new riverside footpath (crushed stone) and an outdoor activity area (for picnics and family activities). The total fee for the path and activity area creation work was £8,524, and your funding paid for well over 50% of this work.

A crowdfunding campaign raised additional funding of £6,400 from 58 members of the local community, and funding from the Central England Co-op and Kirklees Council (Growing Great Spaces) paid for the remainder of the footpath work, the creation of the wildflower meadow, tree planting scheme (over 200 new trees) and woodland wildflower beds.

Local volunteers helped with much of the work including the tree planting, installation of the footpath edging boards, wildflower meadow creation and woodland wildflower beds.

A total of six days of volunteer tasks were carried out to deliver the project. Twenty four volunteers helped and they contributed 79 hours of their own time.
