The 2013-14 season marks John Crooks’ 24th year as the men’s head golf coach and 23rd in charge of the women’s program at Campbell University. One of the top collegiate golf coaches in the country, the Winston-Salem, N.C., native was inducted into the National Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January 2006. During his tenure, Crooks has led the women’s team to 11 conference titles and 16 NCAA Regional appearances. His women’s teams have earned regional berths 13 times in the last 16 years. Upon the program’s return to the Big South Conference in 2011-12, he led the women’s squad to the league title and was voted Big South coach of the year by his peers. His 2012-13 team has captured 6 tournament wins, plus a runner-up fi nish in the Big South tournament, and Crooks was named league coach of the year for the 16th time. Crooks’ squad received an at-large berth to the NCAA Central Regional. Camp- bell entered the regional round ranked fi rst nationally in birdies and No.-34 in the Golfstat NCAA head-to-head listing. In 17 years during Campbell’s membership in the Atlantic Sun Conference (1995-2011), Crooks guided the Lady Camels to three-consecutive league cham- pionships from 1996-98 and again in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2007. In 2004 at Keith Hills Country Club No. 1, the Lady Camels set a record for lowest 54-hole score in the league tourney. Crooks has also directed the Camel men to fi ve conference championships, including the 1999 and 2009 Atlantic Sun Conference titles. The Campbell men made their fi rst NCAA Regional team appearance in 2009 after CU individuals earned regional berths on four previous occasions. CU’s men received a pair of individual NCAA regional berths in 2011 (Vaita Guillaume, Matt Moot). In 2012 Vaita Guillaume won the NCAA Greensboro Regional and earned the program’s fi rst-ever berth into the NCAA Championship. Fritsch is in his second year on the PGA Tour, while Mathis will spend 2014 competing on the Web.com Tour after playing 4 of the previous 5 years on the top circuit. Fritsch, a 2000 Campbell graduate from Manotick, Ontario, retained his PGATour card for 2014 after placing second in the 2013 Web.com Tour Championship. He fi nished tied for 14th on the Web.com money list after fi nishing just outside the top-125 on the 2013 PGA earnings list (129th with $452,184). Fritsch tied for ninth place at the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines and tied for 20th at the Reno Tahoe Open. He also represented his native Canada in the 2013 World Cup of Golf. Fritsch fi nished 18th on the 2012 Web.com Tour money list ($212,168) to earn his PGATour exemption. A resident of Holly Springs, N.C., Fritsch produced seven top-10 individual fi nishes in 2012. Keith Hills (Orange Course)

The 1st hole offers a challenging second shot with a mid-iron to a green surrounded by bunkers and water. You are then faced with the second most difficult hole on the course, the 559 yard uphill par five 2nd. The next three holes are positioned between the big oaks and tall pines. The 6th tee turns you home for a flourish of challeng- ing holes. The second of the two par fives on this nine can be reached in two. The well bunkered 7th is a long and difficult par three. Eight, is a downhill par four that turns right to left. Number nine is one of the toughest holes in North Carolina. The second shot forces you to carry both water and bunkers, while leaving you hungry for more.

Keith Hills (Black Course)

The Black Course (back nine) begins with three par fours, which flow from left to right. They are followed by a 550- yard demanding par five. The 14th hole is a picturesque par three, situated among the dogwoods. The par four 15th hole ranks as the toughest on the course. As you make your way back to the clubhouse, you are faced with three realistic birdie opportunities. The 16th is a short par four, 17 is a mid-iron par three, and the 18th finishing with a beautiful lake front par five.

Keith Hills (White Course)

The 1st and 2nd holes are par fours that require accurate tee shots and second shots over wetlands. From an el- evated tee, the third is a beautiful par 4 with water guarding the front of the green. Hole four is one of the shorter par 3s with a bunker guarding the right side of the green. A wide open fairway awaits you on the par 4 5th. The approach shot is a short iron to the most undulating green on the course. Six is a long straightaway par 5 with bunkers surrounding the green. The 7th is our most picturesque par 3 measuring 188 yards with water surround- ing the green. The par 4, 8th is straight away and with an accurate tee shot, your approach to the green is narrow, guarded by silos on the left and trees on the right.
