2021 Summer Camp Descriptions 2021 Summer Camp Descriptions Sign Ups will begin online on March 1, 2021. No payment required until June 1, 2021 (for June camps) or July 1, 2021 (for July camps). Pretty Princess Tea Party Camp (Ages 2-6) Level: Beginner Do you have a favorite Princess? Come and spend a few days in a magical adventure dancing and singing to some of your favorite princess songs. Let your child’s imagination run free through creative expression and while learning ballet. Your dancer will spend time with their favorite princesses, make some princess arts and crafts and prepare for a princess show and tea party at the end of the week. Offered: June 21, 22, 23, 2021; 9:00am-12:00pm Cost: $105 Frozen Friends Camp (Ages 2-6) Level: Beginner Does your little one just adore the new Frozen movie? Come and spend a few days in Arendelle where we will dance and sing to some of your favorite Frozen songs. Let your child’s imagination run free through creative expression including the use of scarves, ribbon wands and more. Your dancer will spend their time learning ballet while making Frozen arts and crafts and preparing for a Frozen show at the end of the week! Offered: July 7, 8, 9, 2021; 9:00am-12:00pm Cost: $105 Trolls Dance Camp (Ages 4-8) Level: Beginner Does your dancer want to get up and move while watching Trolls? Come and spend a few days where we will dance and sing to some of your favorite songs from the new hit movie. Your dancer will spend their time learning traditional jazz dance terminology, some fun rock and roll dance moves, while making arts and crafts and preparing for a showcase at the end of the week! Offered: June 9, 10, 11, 2021; 9:00-12:00pm Cost: $105 Barbie Dance Party (4-8) Level: Beginner Barbie has introduced many young dancers to the wonderful world of Ballet with her Swan Lake, Pop Star Princess and Nutcracker videos. We will dance along with Barbie as we learn about the different kinds of dance disciplines from Ballet to Tap to Jazz. Let your child fall in love with dance while making new friends, including Barbie! Offered: June 14, 15, 16, 2021; 9:00-12:00pm Cost: $105 Pom Intensive Intermediate (Ages 7 - 12) Level: Intermediate This intensive is designed to help students improve and challenge their skills while helping them get ready for a middle school and/or high school pom team. Teachers will focus on developing skills such as pirouettes, turns in second/tours, leaps, turning disks, toe touches and more. Students will also have time to work on their aerials and other acrobatic skills. The week will conclude with a mock audition process, where students will take home score sheets and know what they need to improve on in the coming season. Offered: July 13, 14, 15, 2021; 9:00am-3:00pm Cost: $150 Pom Intensive Advanced (Ages 11+) Level: Advanced This intensive is designed to help students improve and challenge their skills while helping them get ready for a high school pom team. Teachers will focus on developing skills such as pirouettes, turns in second/tours, leaps, turning disks, toe touches and more. Students will also have time to work on their aerials and other acrobatic skills. The week will conclude with a mock audition process, where students will take home score sheets and know what they need to improve on in the coming season. Offered: July 14, 15, 16, 2021; 9:00am-3:00pm Cost: $150 Dance Workshop (6-12) Level: Beginner, Intermediate All Dance and nothing but dance! This workshop is designed for the dancer who is ready to learn and perfect new dance styles. This workshop will give dancers level-appropriate exposure to various genres of dance including jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary and hip hop and will cover conditioning and leaps and turns technique as well. It is a perfect opportunity to experience a new style of dance or keep your technique sharp over the summer. Offered: July 12-16, 2021; 9:00am-12:00pm Cost: $125 Tik Tok Dance Workshop (6-12) Level: Beginner, Intermediate Does your child love watching music videos on Tik Tok and YouTube? Well, now it’s their turn to be a Tik Tok star! In this camp, they will learn the dance choreography, create props and scenery to create their very own social media style music videos. At the end of the week they will showcase their production for Friends and Family! Offered: July 12-16, 2021; 1:00pm-4:00pm Cost: $125 Pom Star (Ages 6-11) Level: Beginner, Intermediate This camp focuses on what it takes to become a cheerleader! Instruction will consist of pom arm technique, jazz dance turns and jumps, as well as basic tumbling such as cartwheels and walkovers. Students will learn what it takes to make the team, including game day chants, sideline routines, and of course – a halftime performance! Offered: July 19-23, 2021; 9:00am-12:00pm Cost: $125 Hip Hop Workshop (Ages 6-11) Level: Beginner, Intermediate This Workshop is an opportunity for dancers to try on different styles of hip hop. Dancers will learn set choreography but will also get the mats out to work on some new hip hop tricks like kip ups, baby freezes, head springs and more! Join us for an opportunity to improve your skills in a fast paced and fun environment. Offered: July 19-23, 2021; 1:00pm – 4:00pm Cost: $125 Monday Night Master Classes (9+) Level: Intermediate, Advanced This Workshop is a fun opportunity for dancers to try on different styles of dance with different instructors! As the instructors are scheduled, we will make sure to let families know who is teaching so you can look up their bios and resumes. Classes will be jazz technique focused, mostly working on flexibility, technique, and picking up different styles of choreography. Join us for the opportunity to improve your skills in a fast paced and challenging environment. Offered: July 12, July 19, July 26, 2021; 5:00pm – 7:00pm Cost: $60 for all; $25 single class Lunch Bunch For those dancers who are interested in doing a morning and an afternoon camp, we will host a lunch hour where dancers can be supervised while they eat a lunch from home, extending their dance day from 9:00am-4:00pm. Parents can also use this as an extra hour in their day, delivering their dancer an hour early for an afternoon camp (drop off at noon), or leaving them an hour later after a morning camp (pick up at 1:00). This must be specified before the week of camp so that we have the appropriate staff available. Offered: July 12-16, 2021 & July 19-23, 2021; from 12:00-1:00pm Cost: Free of Charge .

Photograph by Russell James. he November 2011 issue of Esquire magazine declares Rihanna “the sexiest Twoman alive.” On the cover, Rihanna poses nude with one leg propped, blocking view of her breast and crotch. The entertainer stares out provocatively, with mouth slightly ajar. Seaweed clings to her glistening body. A small gun tattooed under her right arm directs attention to her partially revealed breast. Rihanna’s hands brace her body, and her nails dig into her skin. The feature article and accompanying photographs detail the hyperbolic hotness of the celebrity; Ross McCammon, the article’s author, acknowledges that the pop star’s presence renders him speechless and unable to keep his composure. Interwoven into anecdotes and narrative scenes explicating Rihanna’s desirability as a sexual subject are her statements of her sexual appetite and the pleasure that she finds in particular forms of sexual play that rehearse gendered power inequity and the titillation of pain. That Rihanna’s right arm is carefully positioned both to show the tattoo of the gun aimed at her breast, and that her fingers claw into her flesh, commingle sexual pleasure and pain, erotic desire and violence. Here and elsewhere, Rihanna employs her body as a stage for the exploration of modes of violence structured into hetero- sexual desire and practices.

    Finding Love in Hopeless Places: Complex Relationality and Impossible Heterosexuality in Popular Music Videos by Pink and Rihanna Marc Lafrance and Lori Burns KEYWORDS: Pink, Rihanna, music video, popular music, cross-domain analysis, relationality, heterosexuality, liquid love ABSTRACT: This paper presents an interpretive approach to music video analysis that engages with critical scholarship in the areas of popular music studies, gender studies and cultural studies. Two key examples—Pink’s pop video “Try” and Rihanna’s electropop video “We Found Love”—allow us to examine representations of complex human relationality and the paradoxical challenges of heterosexuality in late modernity. We explore Zygmunt Bauman’s notion of “liquid love” in connection with the selected videos. A model for the analysis of lyrics, music, and images according to cross-domain parameters ( thematic, spatial & temporal, relational, and gestural ) facilitates the interpretation of the expressive content we consider. Our model has the potential to be applied to musical texts from the full range of musical genres and to shed light on a variety of social and cultural contexts at both the micro and macro levels.     Mental Health and Social Supports How to Talk With Children About the Coronavirus Children are naturally curious. The closing of schools affects children directly. As a result, they will likely have many questions about what the virus is, why schools are closed, and why they have limited access to friends and family. When speaking with children it is important to do the following: • Reassure children that you are doing everything that you can to keep them safe. • Children will respond to what you say and how you say it, so do your best to stay calm and remain reassuring. • Make sure that children know that they can come to you when they have questions. Make time to speak with them, and have that time be as uninterrupted as possible. • Be honest with them. When accurate information isn’t available, children often think of the worst-case scenario. Don’t ignore their concerns, but explain that some people have COVID-19. Let them know that schools are closed to slow the spread of the virus across the state, not necessarily because there are cases in their school. • Avoid language that may lead to blame or stigma. Remind them that the virus can make anyone sick regardless of their race or age. • Pay attention to what children hear on the television or radio, and see online. Make sure to vary what they are seeing and hearing, and encourage them to practice a digitally healthy lifestyle. Too much information focused on COVID-19 can cause children to experience anxiety or panic. • Teach children everyday actions to stop the spread of germs, like how to wash their hands and appropriate social distancing behavior.

    religions Article Unapologetic Apologetics: Julius Wellhausen, Anti-Judaism, and Hebrew Bible Scholarship Stacy Davis Department of Religious Studies and Theology Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN 46556, USA; [email protected] Abstract: Julius Wellhausen (1844–1918) is in many ways the ancestor of modern Hebrew Bible scholarship. His Prolegomena to the History of Israel condensed decades of source critical work on the Torah into a documentary hypothesis that is still taught today in almost all Hebrew Bible courses in some form. What is not taught as frequently is the anti-Judaism that underpins his hypothesis. This is in part due to unapologetic apologetics regarding Wellhausen’s bias, combined with the insistence that a nineteenth-century scholar cannot be judged by twenty-first century standards. These calls for compassion are made exclusively by white male scholars, leaving Jewish scholars the solitary task of pointing out Wellhausen’s clear anti-Judaism. In a discipline that is already overwhelmingly white, male and Christian, the minimizing of Wellhausen’s racism suggests two things. First, those who may criticize contextual biblical studies done by women and scholars of color have no problem pleading for a contextual understanding of Wellhausen while downplaying the growing anti-Judaism and nationalism that was a part of nineteenth-century Germany. Second, recent calls for inclusion in the Society of Biblical Literature may be well intentioned but ultimately useless if the guild cannot simply call one of its most brilliant founders the biased man that he was. Incarcerated participants are invited to encourage and inspire thousands of their peers in prisons across the country through original artwork, created from prompts like “What I Wish You Knew” and “Hope In Hardship.” Pieces are then selected to be produced by professional artists/filmmakers and curated in a 60-minute video with supportive messages from public figures and former participants of the SL community who have since been released. These videos are then sent back into prisons for an uplifting facility-wide experience.
