6 Iroquoia End to End Boot Camp

Imagine taking Hike Leader Training last Fall. Imagine, as your first hikes, you organize and End to End series of hikes. That’s exactly what Holly Sluiter did this past Spring and Summer. Holly and her friend Tania, who also took Hike Leader Training last Fall, took on the challenge of organizing and completing an End to End of the Iroquoia section. They completed it on July20. From the happy looks on their faces, the participants enjoyed the challenge and the satisfaction of completing it. Thank you to Holly and Tania. We hope to see you leading more

The small parking lot on York Road going into Dundas is to be closed as of September 8. I know that many of you use it as a starting point for hikes. When planning your Fall hikes please do not plan on using this lot. Although there is nothing official, I was informed this morning that there may be plans to prohibit parking on the side of the road as well. There is a fenced in lot at the corner of Valley Road and York Rd. which could be used instead.

Rebel Hikers – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday year round

We invite you to join us for 1-1.5 hr. weekly walks. Hiking boots are always recommended. The speed and the terrain vary, as do the meeting points which float around Hamilton, Greensville, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Waterdown, Binbrook, Grimsby, and Burlington. An optional social hour at a nearby pub concludes each hike. Feel free to contact Richard Reble (the Reble of the Rebel Hikers) with questions and concerns before 9:00 p.m. at 905-945-0536 or e-mail him at [email protected]

(All autumn hikes appear under the song title Forever Autumn which was written by Jeff Wayne, Gary Osborne and Paul Vigrass.
