    Juliette Testard y Mari Carmen Serra Puche LAS FIGURILLAS EPICLÁSICAS DE LA PIRÁMIDE DE LAS FLORES DE XOCHITECATL, TLAX., MÉXICO: TIPOLOGÍA Y SIMBOLISMO1 Resumen: En la década de los setenta, Bodo Spranz propuso que las fi gurillas de Xochitecatl eran antiguas versiones de las deidades mexicas Tlazolteotl y Xochitecatl. Consecuentemente, aludían a la fertilidad y al sacrifi cio. Dos décadas más tarde, la investigación del sitio llevó a excavaciones sistemáticas en la Pirámide de las Flores. Siete depósitos rituales epiclásicos fueron descubiertos en las escaleras del edifi cio. Contenían más de 350 fi gurillas antropomorfas, vasijas cerámicas, representaciones de deidades y cuchillos de obsidiana. El proyecto Xochitecatl subrayó la recurrencia del tema de la fertilidad: la fi gura femenina personifi cándose en el Cerro de la Malinche y en las fi gurillas. Este trabajo desea profundizar el análisis iconográfi co con una nueva tipología que explora factores morfológicos y de tocado. Las interpretaciones del proyecto Xochitecatl son aquí respaldadas por el simbolismo de las posturas y de las expresiones. Asimismo, se dibuja una continuidad entre estas fi gurillas y ceremonias rituales mexicas celebradas en honor a deidades de la fertilidad. La frecuencia de los motivos de fl ores, círculos, ollin y “fl or-sangre” refuerza este tópico. La repartición de tipos por ofrenda revela una voluntad de optimizar la efi cacia ritual. Las fi gurillas de Xochitecatl son también piezas de peculiar interés en el contexto del Altiplano epiclásico: ponen a la luz fuertes contactos con la Costa del Golfo y la región maya de Tabasco. Etn., 25: 45-60, 2015 Resumen: Este trabajo tiene como objetivo de conocer, analizar y entender el patrón de asentamiento de los sitios arqueológicos del periodo Epiclásico (650-950 A.D.), localizados en el valle de Puebla-Tlaxcala (México). Se tiene la intención de evaluar primero, las condiciones de conservación en las que se encuentran y segundo, determinar cuales de ellos, según las características arquitectónicas que presentan y el área natural en la que se localizan, fueron dependientes o tributarios del sitio rector de Xochitecatl-Cacaxtla. Para lograr esto se utilizaron diversas fuentes de información: una inicial, sustentada en los trabajos previos de recorridos de superficie y excava- ciones realizadas en diversos sitios arqueológicos y una segunda, sobre la base de los nuevos datos recogidos con el actual estudio de recorrido de superficie. El estudio logro establecer un área extensa de similitud cultural entre Xochitecatl-Cacaxtla y por lo menos veinte sitios hacia la zona centro-sur del valle cuyo límite es el área nuclear del sitio principal de Cholula al sur del propio valle Puebla-Tlaxcala.     TEORÍA, INFERENCIA Y DATO EMPÍRICO DEL MODO DE VIDA EN LOS SITIOS DE CACAXTLA-XOCHITÉCATL Y EN XOCHIMILCO Jesús Carlos Lazcano Arce Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México RECIBIDO: 27 de agosto de 2015; ACEPTADO: 28 de octubre de 2015 Resumen: Con base en las categorías fundamentales de la Arqueología Social Ameroibérica, el presente texto busca establecer la correlación entre el modo de vida identificado en la sociedad prehispánica de la región de Xochimilco en la Cuenca de México durante el periodo Postclásico tardío (1325-1521 d.n.e.) y aquella del sitio de Cacaxtla-Xochitécatl que hemos estudiado de manera sistemática y continua en la zona norte del valle Puebla-Tlaxcala. Se trata de estable- cer los elementos de mayor verosimilitud que permitan corroborar que el modo de vida que hemos denominado agricultor intensivo lacustre también estuvo presente y como antecedente en Cacaxtla-Xochitécatl durante el periodo Epiclásico (650-950 d.n.e.). El resultado permite, una vez señaladas las particularidades de cada caso y descritas sus características, establecer un ámbito diacrónico con relación a los modos de vida que han tenido las sociedades pretéritas mesoamericanas y cuyas actividades principales y modos de trabajo les permitió su reproducción social y biológica. La continuidad desde el Epiclásico de dicho modo de vida se explica por la presencia de la división de clases ya claramente establecida en estas sociedades; y del interés de la elite, que lo promovió e incentivó, con la finalidad obtener mayor acumulación de bienes, elemento estrechamente vinculado con el sistema agrícola de la chinampa, objeto de trabajo producido, cuya característica principal es un alto nivel de rendimiento.
