TEACHER FEATURE

Kathy Olearnick grew up in Sacramento in a multicultural community, her mother Thai, her father, English/German. Immersing herself in the many cultures of her friends developed a love of art and a rich background of life experiences that have made her one of Tools For Tomorrow’s most imaginative, exciting and beloved teachers. Kathy earned a BA from St. Mary’s College in California, a Multi-subject Teaching Credential KATHY OLEARNICK from CSUSB and an MA in Education from Chapman University. Married 25 years, with two daughters, Kathy especially loves teaching creative writing and art, which she says allows her to really see what students know and observe. “I feel more like a student than a teacher. I learn so much from my students,” Kathy says. Tools For Tomorrow has been blessed to have had Kathy Olearnick on our teaching staff since 2015.

By volunteering in the classroom I was able to see the children grow from an unruly group of 25 students to performing professionals. They not only Judith Antonio performed, they wrote and acted their script, learned production skills, voice projection but most of all gained self-confidence and an ability to work with others. I invite you to become members of The VISIONARIES of Tools For Tomorrow. One hundred percent of your membership fee goes to support the program. Your benefit, the joy and satisfaction of helping the children of our valley expand their intellectual and cultural horizons and become the leaders of tomorrow. Just go to: www.toolsfortomorrow.org and click on “The VISIONARIES.” And once you are a member, if you would like to become a volunteer with the theatre program like me, or any of the other 16 classroom art programs, contact Andrea @ 760.601.3954. I can promise you a rewarding experience. Member or not, you can join us for another “fun raising” year. The first event will be January 27th “The Golden Age of Hollywood: A Tribute in Song and Costume” with our special honoree, Lucie Arnaz.
