Shillong, a city full of life and a place to be, is the capital city of Meghalaya – “the abode of clouds”. It is one of the leading education hubs in the North WHERE East with many schools and colleges specked in the picturesque settings. The city has beats and rhythms in everything: the church bells, the choirs, the rock bands and music flows in every nook and corner. Surrounded by the hills, the city is in the vicinity of many beautiful tourist spots: Shillong Peak, the Elephant Falls, and the Ward’s Lake. The rains and mist in the air add to the charm of the place. As many have rightly quoted, the places in and around Shillong reminded many of the rolling greens of the Scottish highlands – thus it is also THE known as “Scotland of the East”. The human eyes’ thirst for beauty can be quenched GREENS TOUCH by the scenic surroundings of Shillong. The full glory of Nature can be seen in the forests, lakes and waterfalls that are present in the region. For the adventure seeking souls there are challenging trekking routes in Smit Valley or the David Scott's trail. Just near to it is Cherrapunji which offers many more places to sooth one's eyes with Nature's beauty. In Shillong, the hills keep reckoning the heart with its charm and so it's best to keep your cameras and back packs ready! THE And for conventional tourists, Shillong offers no less! The burgeoning population, rise in vehicle ownership, along with the demand for reliable and accessible transportation facilities for people and goods are posing a severe strain in the transportation systems. Moreover, unforeseen challenges in the form of the pandemic have posed serious challenges to the patronage of the public transport systems. Furthermore, safety, accessibility, mobility and parking challenge transportation engineers to suggest feasible and sustainable solutions for the problems. The need for the hour is therefore to provide sustainable solutions to transport related problems.

For the modeling purpose various numerical methods were explored. Mesh free method (MLPG) was tried out first but it was too time consuming. Finally FEM with a new type of shape functions were implemented for the modeling purpose. For Optimization purpose Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) was used. The manipulator was discritized into elements; the area of each was taken as the decision variable. We obtained profiles for the Manipulator, which showed a marked improvement in the system behavior.     JSS STU (SJCE) at IIT Guwahati, Alcheringa 2016 A team of 44 students and 1 Faculty Representative from SJCE Mysore recently attended Alcheringa 2016, IIT Guwahati’s Signature Fest. Diverse Teams including Dance, Theatrics, Literary and Music, alongside solo artists for Voice of Alcheringa, Roadiez, Miss Campus Princess, Miss and Mister Alcheringa, Classical and Non-Classical Dance, Face Painting and Others participated in the fest. The three day fest had a footfall of over 30,000 people from over 300 colleges. The team returned with flying colours, winning numerous prizes. The dance team won the first place in ‘Electric Heels’, the stand-up comedy team came first in the event ‘Why so serious?’, Ashwin Prabhu bagged the title of ‘Voice of Alcheringa’, Meghna won first place in Solo Classical Dance, Harsha Patil won the title ‘Campus Princess’, Sujan won the Roadiez contest, Apparnaa was named ‘Miss Alcheringa’, Caroll and Shashank won the Rangoli Contest, Nikhil bagged 2nd place in Face Painting, The College heartily congratulates all participants for their effort and dedication.
