The name Baguio conjures, for both the international and domestic traveler, a highland retreat in the Grand Cordillera in Northern Luzon, with pine trees, crisp cold breezes and low verdant knolls and hillocks. Through the numerous decades Baguio has morphed from what was once a grassy marshland into one of the cleanest and greenest, most highly urbanized cities in the country. It has made its mark as a premiere tourist destination in the Northern part of the Philippines with its cool climate, foggy hills, panoramic views and lovely flowers. Being the ideal convergence zone of neighboring highland places, Baguio is the melting pot of different peoples and cultures and has boosted its ability to provide a center for education for its neighbors. Its rich culture and countless resources have lured numerous investments and business opportunities to the city..

A. Balendres ([email protected]) Abstract This paper reviews the current knowledge of pepper anthracnose in the Philippines. We present research outputs on pepper anthracnose from the last three years. Then, we present evidence of the widespread occurrence of C. acutatum sensu lato in the Philippines. Finally, we highlight some research prospects that would contribute towards developing an integrated anthracnose management program. Keywords: Colletotrichum truncatum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, chilli anthracnose, polymerase chain reaction assay, disease distribution I. Knowledge review of pepper anthracnose in the Philippines Pepper in the Philippines Pepper (Capsicum sp.) is an important vegetable crop in the family Solanaceae. It is mainly added as a spice or condiment in various dishes. In the Philippines, there is a demand for pepper in both the fresh and processing markets. However, it is a relatively small industry compared to other vegetable crops, e.g., tomato. The Cordillera and Northern Mindanao regions produce the most but, other areas, e.g., in the CALABARZON and Central Luzon, also steadily produce pepper. The price of pepper can reach to as high as Php1,000 per Kg (USD 20), making pepper cultivation attractive to small-scale growers as a source of income. Within three months, depending on the pepper variety, growers can start harvesting the fruits, that could last to several priming’s (harvests).

TERMS OF REFERENCE CONSULTING SERVICES PROCUREMENT OF SERVICES OF MULTIMEDIA COMPANY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF A WEB-BASED 360° VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENTIAL REGIONAL TOURS December 2020 - March 2021 I. BACKGROUND The Philippine Tourism Promotions Board (PTPB) is mandated to promote and market the Philippines as a major global tourism destination. Its core mission is to market and promote the Philippines domestically and internationally as a world class tourism and MICE destination, in strategic partnership with private and public stakeholders as a preferred destination for fun and travel. Its vision is to make the Philippines as a destination for safe, uniquely-diverse and fun travel experiences by 2025. The global tourism has almost come to standstill due to the CoVid-19 pandemic. As travel restrictions and social distancing continue to be enforced across the world for the conceivable future, travel-related businesses such as airlines, cruise lines, hotels, restaurants, and museums have ceased operations. With travels now confined to their respective homes, clamor for indoor activities is on the rise. The introduction of virtual tours, artificial intelligence and virtual/augmented reality are seen as huge potential in tourism. With recent advancements in technology and the availability of video hardware and software worldwide, virtual tours are a staple of digital marketing and promotion. TPB recognizes the relevance of virtual tours and virtual tourism experience platform to strategically market and promote the Philippines as a preferred destination for safe and fun travel. The 360°VR Experiential Regional Tours, in essence, is a virtual experience in exploring the many Philippine tourism attractions and interesting sites/activities in the virtual environment through the use of technology.
