Final Month of The Year! =) THIRD Hyperlink Journals Series ^_^ Hey everybody! =D And an early “Happy New Year’s Day” 2014! ^_^ Merry Holiday Season! =) Simply to keep You in tune with how the “TIGERM Follow Me Hyperlink Journals” are going to continue to be done simply a reminder that the original “Official Release” of this series was completed in October. So, the addresses Journalized for “October 2013” (First Journal) actually list “September 2013” hyperlinks. The month each Journal is released, it covers the month before it. Certainly hope that makes sense! ^_^ The links this “TIGERM Follow Me Hyperlink Journals” series covers are links I visited “November 2013.” However, the month this Hyperlink Journal was printed to be published is this month: “December 2013.” As awesome as it would be if it could be done in this day and age… it is not possible just yet for me or anyone who I know—to “travel into the future” (at this time ^_^) and collect hyperlinks for the month “December 2013” prior to me “Surfing the pixels of cyberspace” in well… “December 2013…” ^^; So long tale told – long description short— Every “TIGERM Follow Me Hyperlink Journal” covers all links visited the month prior to it. Simply restating what was just stated so hopefully clarity is true and sense is keen. There is actually a “Journal Series” that I am printing but is not yet ready for public release—an extension of the “TIGERM Follow Me Hyperlink Journals” that I’ll talk about later on in the future World Willing. That series also contains hyperlinks and when it is released, I surely will let You know! =) Up until that time comes—please enjoy this month’s “TIGERM Follow Me Hyperlink Journals” for “December 2013!” =) Again, I am doing this because I am passionate about exploring the correlation of the physical and digital. Next month, I intend to make some aesthetic changes to the design of my Hyperlink Journals for 2014. =) This will be the last month that I will feature two separate “Sections” for each of the computers that are utilize to visit websites and go on “Digital Adventures.” =3 This means that each “Day” during a month will only be covered once instead of the fairly confusing “each-computer-has-a-month-list-of-hyperlinks” that covers day by day that was being done this year (2013). Introduction Electronic Dance Music (EDM) culture today is often times associated with top mainstream DJs and producers such as Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, and David Guetta. These are artists who have established their career around DJing and/or producing electronic music albums or remixes and have gone on to headline world-renowned music festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Coachella. The problem is that the term “DJ” can be mistakenly used interchangeably between someone who mixes between pre-recorded pieces of music at a venue with a set of turntables and a mixer and an artist who manipulates or creates music or audio live using a combination of computers, hardware, and/or controllers.

Woelfer University of Washington Abstract Tuned Souls: The Role of Music is the Lives of Homeless Young People Jill P. Woelfer Chair of the Supervisory Committee: Associate Professor, David G. Hendry The Information School Although music is considered to be an important part of adolescence and young adulthood, little is known about music and homeless youth. Accordingly, this dissertation research investigated the role of music in the lives of homeless young people, aged 15-25. The study was conducted in Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia and engaged homeless young people (n=202) and service providers staff who work at agencies that provide support for homeless young people (n=24). Homeless young people completed surveys (n=202), design activities, which included drawing and story writing (n=149), and semi-structured interviews (n=40). Service providers completed semi-structured interviews (n=24). Data analysis included descriptive analysis of survey data and qualitative coding of the design activities and interview responses. Findings indicated that music was an important part of everyday life for homeless young people, who listened to music daily (98%), owned music players (89%), and had wide- ranging and eclectic tastes in music which did not vary based on location.
