The Harvard Museums of Science & Culture (HMSC) seek undergraduate students to join the HMSC Student Board. The HMSC museum partnership is a strong, coordinated public face for the six museums that are within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard: Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments; Harvard Museum of Natural History; Harvard University Herbaria; Mineralogical and Geological Museum; Museum of Comparative Zoology; Harvard Semitic Museum; Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology. This select group of undergraduates will partner with HMSC to explore student needs, ideas, and initiatives. Each meeting of the group will include time with a different faculty or HMSC staff member as well as a rich discussion about specific ways to increase student engagement with HMSC. Spring 2015 meetings will be on three Monday evenings: March 2, 30, and April 27, from 6-8PM. Dinner will be provided. This conference, hosted by the OSL on Saturday, April 11, offers students an opportunity to disseminate the findings from their research on critical issues within their respective fields. We welcome research abstract proposals from students whose work is supervised by faculty and focuses on diversity, (in)equity, and social justice. Students should submit a one to three paragraph (450-word maximum) abstract by Wednesday, February 25. Cash prizes of up to $1,000 will be awarded to recognize outstanding research.
