Looking back on the successes of 2019 for the Inland Empire, we are reminded of the continued support we can give to our community moving forward during these trying times. With new leadership in place and a strong staff, 2019 was a transformative year for the Inland Empire Community Foundation to become IF YOU WANT a more visible and effective leader in the community. Even with the past success of the Foundation, the Board knew that we had the ability, potential and need to emerge as a more active and impactful leader to serve the Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Throughout the past year, we fostered and established new and existing relationships and partnerships with major internationally known TO LIFT foundations and organizations, and closely collaborated with the state, county and local governments. We continue to build lasting relationships with our donors, higher education institutions and nonprofit organizations in the region. We launched major projects to increase the impact we could make on the community, such as our work with 2020 Census, preparing our vulnerable populations to YOURSELF emergencies, and continuing our work on improving education and the economic future of the region. As several crises hit the counties in 2020, the Foundation became a focal point to gather resources and allocate them to serve the most UP, LIFT UP at-risk populations in our community. The establishment of the IE COVID-19 Resilience Fund helped raised over $617,000 to support our counties and nonprofits, while also showcasing the importance of the Foundation’s work. Entering a time where equality for all is of the utmost importance, it is not enough to just write well-written and polite messages, but to SOMEONE lead our community by example. At times, that leadership may entail a deeper conversation and discussion with community members that have a different perspective, but this is how we progress and evolve to be a better community. IECF is a very different organization from just a year ago and we will strive to continuing to be more active and be part of the solutions needed. ELSE Thank you for your support of the Foundation as we ask you to help make this organization even more impactful and in turn continue to help our communities more effectively. - BOOKER T.
