Much of the bitterness and violence that occurred between the Government, military, and citizens of the US and the American Indians of the was the result of a deep lack of understanding of and appreciation for the attitudes, values, and culture of the native people by white Americans. Read all the excerpts in which different American Indians express their thoughts and feelings about different topics. Use these to answer the questions.
