Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada Dear Parents We have now reached the end of a very busy, event filled term 2 . It is a pleasure to have shared half the year with our students striving to achieve their learn- ing and spiritual goals, while experiencing the joy the that comes with success, friendship, and challenge along the way. This term, students have been explor- ing the topic of endangered animals through inquiry and Krishna conscious philosophy. Science Roadshow On June 21st, students from Gaura Nitai class and Sita Rama class enjoyed a morning out at the science roadshow where they could participate in a range of science learning experiences that involved different types of thinking. The survey gives you Term 3 Calendar Dates as a parent an opportunity to express your interest in volunteering at the school. Science Roadshow learning experiences... On the 17th June, children from Gaura Nitai class speak at Tamal Krishna Goswami’s Vyasa Puja. Krish Modi, Krisha Prasad, Nadiya Rani Chandra, Amrta Pani dd, and Brihat Sloka Chandra. They all spoke well and were appreciated by the TKG disciples for their courage and commitment. Soccer Student Council A school-wide Mathex competition on 19th June had children across the school deep in thought, solving math problems in their teams for the whole morning. “We did the mathex competition last year and it turned out really well, so we decided to do it again. The kids worked in their house groups and were given word maths problems to solve. Yaisa and I were the judges. The kids were happily engaged in their teams.” Veda Pujol (Head Girl) Soccer year 5/6 interschool tournament On 26th June Hare Krishna School Soccer team competed with other schools. Hare Krishna School came fourth out of ten schools, beating Waimauku and Marina View. “The highlights—we got to compete with a lot of other schools and see what they were like. We worked as a team and that was fun.” (Iggy). School Mathex judges Yaisa and Veda Student Project Exhibition On Monday 3rd July students from Sita Rama and Gaura Nitai classes were able to exhibit their endangered animal inquiry projects for other students to view and receive construc- tive feedback from their peers. Thank you to those parents who also came along to see what the children have been learning. In an informal, relaxed and friendly environment (often someone’s home) participants are equipped with practical skills and strategies that can be immediately put to use. Over six sessions, key parenting principles are explored and participants are encouraged in their parent- ing. Courses are facilitated by trained local volunteers who are friendly and supportive. They keep each session flowing smoothly and help participants to engage with the material. Each session leaves participants with a range of activities and strategies to try at home. Cost The cost of the course is $75 per person or $110 per couple (incl. GST). Subsidies are available upon request for those who can’t afford these fees. Participants who have attended a Tweens and Teens course will receive a copy of the Attitude resource Connected. .
