Introduction A Colonial Desire And Hybridity In The Selected Fiction Of Amitav Ghosh: A Post-Colonial Study 1.1. Introduction: Post-colonial literature is the worldwide literature of the colonies being studied even by the colonizers today. The image of man is truly depicted only in Post- colonial literature. Colonial Desire and Hybridity has become core part of this literature. Colonial Desire means to make colony and to rule over them. On the other hand, Hybridity means the mixture of culture, religion and nation etc. Amitav Ghosh’s The Glass Palace, The Shadow Lines, Sea Of Poppies and In An Antique Land are remarkable examples of Colonial Desire and Hybridity. 1.2. Survey of Research: The title of present research is A Colonial Desire and Hybridity in the Selected Fiction of Amitav Ghosh: A Post-Colonial Study. The researchers have focuses on concepts like gender issues, migration, repatriating, exile refuges, assimilation, multiculturalism, and social realism. But no one could handle the issue of Colonial Desire and Hybridity. Therefore, the present research is going to focus on above notions. A Colonial Desire And Hybridity In The Selected Fiction Of Amitav Ghosh: A Post-Colonial Study Abdul Anees Abdul Rashid has awarded Ph. D degree from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, under the title of Novel As A Paradigm Of Social Realism: A Study Of Amitav Ghosh’s Novels in 2013 Dkhar Jenniefer has also awarded Ph. D. degree from North-Eastern Hill University Shillong, India under the title of Re-inventing history a study of Amitav Ghosh’s novels in 2011. Chambers Claire Gail is one who has awarded Ph. D degree from University of Leeds under the title of The relationship between knowledge and power in the work of Amitav Ghosh in 2003 Hence, the present research is different from other perspectives. It is simply a post-colonial study. 1.3. Significance of Research: The present century, no doubt, is that of scientific and technological development. The education of the techno-era shows the instrumental development of the machine based world. However, it is indispensible to note that we should not remain back in a perceiving the development in the literary genres that show the pursuit of life. This ensures the colonial desire and Hybridity in the novels of Amitav Ghosh is the significance of the title. In this world set up of globalization, we should remember the socio cultural development that many countries in different parts of the world are availing from time to time. What reminds us is the impertinence of colonial desire and Hybridity that is found in multiethnic set up of men’s life. We should be more aware of the changing scenario whether it may be the field of literature,

There have been innumerable instances of brave journalists being killed while covering conflict in the world’s troubled hotspots. That is why Swedish-Austrian journalist Bertil Lintner’s remarkable book Land of Jade – A Journey from North East India through Northern Burma to China is truly inspirational – not only for the brotherhood of scribes, but the layman as well. For here, Lintner, and his young Burmese wife, Hseng Noung and baby daughter cross the border between North East India’s Nagaland and Burma (Myanmar), secretly infiltrating that unknown, enigmatic country sealed off from the world. It is October 1985 and the couple are undertaking a terrible risk to discover for themselves what lies beyond. Once across the Indian border, Kachin guerillas escort the family through Northern Burma to the Sino Burmese border. This epic journey, full of unexpected dangers, hardships and survival under the most daunting circumstances, helped Lintner write about the ground realities of Burma, the life of the rebels in the Far Eastern Economic Review in 1987 and his book The Rise and Fall of the Communist Party of Burma, published in 1990. When he wrote this present book in 1989 in Danish, there were over 25,000 - 30,000 odd insurgents in Burma. Praising the discipline and fighting skills of the Burmese Army, he hoped that they would be able to channelise this force into a more honourable task than fighting against the country’s own ethnic minorities.
