Oviedo High School Principal’s Weekly Update January 25, 2021 PSAT/NMSQT for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders – Tuesday, January 26, 2021 On Tuesday, January 26th Oviedo High School will be administering the PSAT/NMSQT to all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors enrolled at OHS. This includes any students currently under SCVS, Seminole Connect, or hybrid schedules. Seniors will be completing their required 5 hour Mental Health education courses at home this day through Nearpod and will receive an e-mail to their School accounts with login information. Students in grades 9 through 11 will participate in the PSAT for the entirety of the school day. Students, please remember to bring fresh number 2 pencils with good erasers, a snack, and a calculator for the PSAT. All students must provide their own calculator - both scientific and graphing calculators are permissible. If students haven’t earned their math assessment graduation requirement, they need to earn a 430 or higher on the math section of the PSAT. These students received an email notifying them of this opportunity. Earning a 430 or higher will help them be one step closer to graduation. Students will not be able to access their cellular or smart devices until after testing concludes, even during breaks. Students will be dismissed for their 30 minute lunch after the conclusion of testing. For standard time students the test will begin at 7:20 and conclude at 11:20. After lunch students will return to their testing room for study hall. Room assignments are based on last name and are attached. Students with accommodated timing will receive a separate e-mail with their room assignments and schedule for the day. Questions? Four basketball players are being recognized by a parent. M’lani Vitela Maizie King Kiana Scott Eliana Nemasango This is what the parent wrote: I wanted to recognize 4 of your girls' basketball players. This afternoon, my daughter (age 10) was practicing with her basketball team, which is co-ed, in Boston Hill Park. 4 wonderful young ladies from your team were there practicing too, and my daughter approached them to ask about how hard they work. They were so kind and patient with her and gave her so much encouragement. She loves basketball and being able to talk with some older girls about playing is so important. I cannot thank them enough for taking some time to talk to her, so warmly. What wonderful young ladies. They made this mom so happy today, they are truly role models to be proud of.
