Teams with five players can only play 5 on 5, Teams with 6 players on their team, must play 6 on 6. If a team has 7 they must choose the 5 or 6 (dependent upon how many players are on the opposing team) to play and can not substitute said 5 or 6 during this match (best 3 out of 5). Each team picks a side of the table they want to be on and then each player will fill their cup with a small amount of beer. There is no official amount of beer, but a good rule of thumb is to go up to the first line of your plastic cup if there is any debate. Designate one end of the table as the starting end, and the other as the anchor end. The first player at the starting side will be assigned cup #1 and so on down the line. The game starts when both player #1s tap each other's cup and then tap the table (also known as "The Gentleman's Start"). From there each player #1 will drink the amount of beer in the cup. Then they will place the cup FACE UP on the edge of the table and proceed to flip the cup until it lands FACE DOWN. Then player #2 can drink their beer and proceed to flip, and so on down the line until all team members have flipped. The first team to flip all of their cups wins that game. If 2 cups on opposing sides land at the same time, you go to a tie breaker. Remember, if 2 cups hit the table at the same time, it is the cup that settles first that wins. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker is when everyone at the table participates at the same time. The entire table will Gentleman's Start, then everyone will flip. The first team to have every team member flip their cup will win. The winner of the match is the first team to reach the designated amount of game vic- tories. Best 3 out of 5 games is the winner and takes on the next challenger. The Morning After… Page 7 www.happyhourkickball.com The 2nd Annual Summer Beer OH Lympic Rules BEER PONG Ideal Amount of Players: 4 (2 teams of 2) Equipment: 4 cups in a diamond shape on either side of the table, 4 beer pong balls, beer Objective: To knock out the opposing team’s cups! Place four cups in a diamond shape at opposite ends of the table. That means one in the back, two in the middle, and then one in the front. The object is to throw the ball from your side of the table into the cups on the other side of the table which are filled with beer, about a 1/3 cup full. To determine which team will go first, players must volley for serve. To volley, one player from either team count to three and then throw at the same time. Whichever player gets their ball in, that team be- gins. Should neither player get their ball in, their teammates will then volley for serve in the same fash- ion. This volleying continues until one player makes their shot. Should both players make their shot, their teammates will then volley. From this point on, each team takes two shots, then the other team takes two shots and so on. If each teammate sinks their shot, they receive rollbacks. This means they both get to shoot again. Teammates alternate drinking their beers that have been sunk, but that’s not a hard and fast thing, just get the beer down your throat. Should a player land a ball at the meeting of three cups such that it rests at this junction, without falling in, you have achieved a trifecta. All three of those cups are considered sunk. Distractions and taunting are part of the good-natured competition that is beer pong. However, there is no blowing of a ball thrown at your cups, no hitting a ball as it goes for your cups or touches the cup, and there is no bouncing of the ball when you are throwing. The ball once thrown can not be defended in anyway, except for the taunting mentioned above. When one team sinks the last cup, all shooting ceases for the moment. If you are the first of your team to shoot and make it, your teammate does not get to shoot. The opposing team is then given the chance to match and can shoot until they miss. The amount of shots given to match your opponent is based on the amount of shots that were taken to finish the game. If one shot was taken, then one shot is given, if two shots were taken, two shots are given. If the opposing team is unable to sink the remaining cups, they drink whatever beer remains in their op- ponents cups they have left unsunk. If they can sink all the remaining cups, you go into overtime, if they do not, they have lost. In OT, only one cup is placed on the table, and each team shoots in turn, until the last cup is sunk and the opposing team’s throwbacks fail.
