Party Like Sophia 1 of 75 Game #1: Beer Pong What you need: Ping pong table Pack of ping-pong balls Pack of 16oz plastic cups How to play: You can play beer pong in teams of one or two players. You will need to set up two formations of 10 cups on either end of the ping-pong table. The cups should form a triangle, similar to how balls are racked at the beginning of a game of pool. Fill each cup with roughly three to four ounces of beer. Each team stands on either side of the table. The goal is to toss a ping- pong ball into one of the cups on the opposing team’s side. You can toss the ball directly into a cup, and the opposing team is not permitted to try to swat the ball away. Or, for an easier shot, you can bounce the ball when you toss it, but in this scenario, the opposing team is permitted to try to swat the ball away. When a ball lands in a cup, a member of the opposing team has to drink it. Each team should be permitted three attempts each turn. The team that clears the opposing side first is the winner. Party Like Sophia 2 of 75 Game #2: Depth Charge What you need: Pint Glass Normal shot glass How to play: The pint glass will be filled approximately half full of your beer of choice. Very carefully, float the shot glass on the beer. Players will take turns very carefully pouring hard alcohol into the shot glass. The player who is holding the bottle of hard alcohol when the shot glass collapses into the beer is required to drink the pint glasses entire contents. The beauty of depth charge is that the players who constantly mess up and have to drink only progressively play worse with HILARIOUS consequences! Game #3: Thumper What you need: None. Just alcohol… Party Like Sophia 3 of 75 How to play: Thumper is a pretty simple drinking game in theory but the practical aspect of it can get pretty hard to keep up with especially after you’ve had a few. First everyone sits around a table and puts their hands on the table; then one by one each player decides on a separate hand signal to use for the game. Now, after everyone has decided on a hand signal, everyone starts drumming on the table simultaneously either using the same beat or different ones; different beats will make the game a little harder to keep up with and you’ll see why in a minute. To start, any random player chants “what is the name of the game?” to which everyone responds “thumper!” then the player chants again “why do we play it?” everyone responds with “to get wasted!” Without stopping the drumming and in one smooth motion after the chant, the chanter does his hand signal then someone else’s. The player whose hand signal was just done must repeat his own hand signal then do the hand signal of another player. This continues until someone doesn’t realize it’s their turn or makes a signal that doesn’t belong to anyone. This person who messed up must then take a drink or shot. The drumming never stops until someone messes up. Party Like Sophia 4 of 75 Game #4: Pick A Player What you need: Football game How to play: The rules are simple. All you need is a football game to watch and a group of friends. Each friend should pick a football player from either side to allocate to the friend on his/her left-hand side. The footballer chosen has to play in midfield or upfront. Defenders and goalkeepers are omitted from the game. Once a player has been allocated, it cannot then be changed for the entirety of the game. The only exception is that if your player is substituted, you are automatically allocated the incoming player. If any of the following happens to your player, then you have to drink. Mentioned in commentary = Drink 1 finger. Yellow card = Drink 4 fingers Red card = Down your drink Scores a goal = Down your drink Scores an own goal = Down your drink Offside = Drink 4 fingers Assist = Drink 4 fingers Party Like Sophia 5 of 75 Game #5: Drunk Jenga What you need: Jenga Blocks Pen or Sharpie marker How to play: Drunk Jenga is the classic board game, modified to be the perfect drinking game for any group of friends. To begin, you’ll need to grab a pen or a Sharpie marker and a box of Jenga blocks. Write different rules on a bunch of tiles. You can be creative. An example of some rules might be, “Make Julie drink,” “Tell a really stupid joke” or “keep mum for the rest of the game” etc. Set up the Jenga game and play as normal. Whenever a player pulls a block with a rule, they must abide by it. When the tower collapses, the person responsible for the collapse must finish their drink. Game #6: Beer Roulette What you need: None. Just beer in cans. Party Like Sophia 6 of 75 How to play: Beer roulette is a game of chance that will involve everyone getting a little messy. One player is appointed to take as many cans of beer as there are players in another room. The player will vigorously shake one can of beer. That player brings the cans back into the room where the players have congregated and handed them out. Every player takes a can and opens it. Whoever gets sprayed has to chug their entire beer. There are other variations on “roulette” style drinking games. For example, a circle of players could close their eyes while one player fills each glass with beer, except for one player, who receives something stronger. Everyone switches glasses, their eyes still closed, and then they chug. Game #7: Power Hour What you need: Power Hour mix (Songs in 30 second increments) How to play: Power Hour isn’t technically a game; however, it’s a favorite for college students who don’t feel like sitting around a table. To have a Power Party Like Sophia 7 of 75 Hour, you will need to find a Power Hour mix. Many are available free on YouTube or can be downloaded. A Power Hour mix is typically an hour to two hours long and will contain many songs in 30 second increments. Whenever the song changes, everyone has to drink. Everyone is encouraged to dance to the songs in between drinks. This is a popular choice for those who are “pre-gaming” and want to get a slight buzz going. Game #8: Up Chickens, Down Chickens What you need: Table A Quarter How to play: Split into 2 teams. Team 1 passes the quarter to each other under the table until Team 2 shouts "Up Chickens, Down Chickens," at which point Team 1 slams their hands down on the table. If Team 2 correctly identifies (through elimination) which hand holds the quarter then Team 1 drinks. If they guess wrong Team 2 drinks. Party Like Sophia 8 of 75 Game #9: Quarters What you need: Glass A Quarter How to play: Quarters is an easy game that requires nothing more than a glass and a quarter. Players sit around a table with the glass centered in the middle of the table. Each player places the quarter on the edge of the table in front of them and attempts to flip the quarter into the glass. If the player succeeds, he or she can order whomever they please to drink. They can also implement rules such as “no first names” or “no one can say ‘drink.'” If a player violates this rule, they have to drink. These rules are in place until someone new successfully lands the quarter in the glass, at which point they become the new rule-maker. Game #10: Avalanche What you need: Glass A die Party Like Sophia 9 of 75 How to play: Each player sits around a table with their glass or cup of alcohol. To play a turn, a player begins by filling the “game glass” with either a small or large amount of their drink. They then roll the die. They do the following depending on the number they receive: 1 = The player does nothing; they pass the glass and the die to the next player 2 = The player adds more alcohol to the game glass and passes it to the next player, along with the die 3 = The player must drink the contents of the game glass 4 = The player yells “floor!” Everyone must either point downward or drop to the ground. Whoever does this last or fails to do it must drink the contents of their glass 5 = The player can make anyone of their choosing drink the glass 6 = Same rules as when a player rolls a 1. Some groups choose to play by these simple rules. In other scenarios, some like to play Avalanche elimination-style, with players being removed from the game after three consecutive drinks.
