MEDIA RELEASE MONDAY 14 NOVMEBER 2016 SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE PRESENTS JAMES VINCENT McMORROW TUESDAY 7 MARCH 2017, 8pm CONCERT HALL, SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE **** The Irishman's distinct falsetto sends shivers down the audience's spine The Guardian on JVM at Vivid LIVE 2014, Sydney Opera House James Vincent McMorrow melted hearts and got tears flowing with his faultless voice The Brag Sonically audacious, visually stunning and meticulously modern. The Times IRISH MAVERICK BRINGS REINVENTED SHOW TO CONCERT HALL Three years after a mesmerising Opera House debut, James Vincent McMorrow will bring his crystalline falsetto, four- piece band and critically acclaimed new album, We Move, to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall in March 2017. “Thank you James,” triple j gushed on behalf of “the ears of Australia” following the sold-out 2014 Vivid LIVE shows, while an all-too-brief taste of his latest work at Splendour in the Grass earlier this year left ”an already dazzled crowd with the searing memory of McMorrow’s gorgeous pipes”, according to The Music. In the years since his 2014 album Post Tropical, the once-reserved Dubliner has experimented with dance titans such as Tourist, Duke Dumont and Kygo, before doubling down with 'Hotline Bling' producer Nineteen85 and Frank Dukes (Kanye West, Rihanna) to create We Move’s pop-soul mastery. Melding acoustic confessionals with 80s synthesisers and a modern R&B sensibility, We Move is both a career-defining statement and the realisation of McMorrow’s childhood dream of “writing songs like Neil Young but producing them like The Neptunes.” Irish folk singer and song writer James Vincent McMorrow was the breakout hit of Vivid Live 2014, charming the city with his emotional falsetto painting sonic landscapes of romance and heartache in equal measure”, says Ben Marshall, Head of Contemporary Music at Sydney Opera House.

Abstract In this thesis, I examine how the content in online music magazines differs from the music sites of online newspapers.

IYMAs OFFICIAL PROGRAMME Irish Youth Music Awards NATIONAL DAY AVIVA STADIUM Sat April 16 2016 IYMAs National Day Hello and welcome to the ninth Irish Youth Music Awards National Day. It’s been a brilliant year with lots of regional events throughout the coun- try and lots of new clubs and projects getting involved in the IYMAs programme. It’s been a pleasure to travel up and down the country and see the brilliant talent and communi- ties of young people working together to create their own music scenes within their youth clubs and projects. Today is about them and showcasing what they do and most importantly for those involved to have fun meet new friends and create new connec- tions with other young people doing the same things in their communities. We see the IYMAs as a stepping stone for those involved to learn new skills and to further their journey into em- ployment and education opportunities within the creative and music industry that exists within Ireland and overseas. Thank you so much for coming and special thanks to all our sponsors, supporters, youth leaders, clubs, projects and most importantly all the young people involved, have a great day. Barry Lennon, Director Irish Youth Music Awards Youth Work Ireland would like to welcome you all to ninth National Day for the IYMAs which marks the launch of Youth Work Ireland Week 2016. • James Vincent Mcmorrow - 'Post Tropical'
James Vincent McMorrow - 'Post Tropical' On a pecan farm half a mile from the Mexican border, ‘Post Tropical’ was born – a collection of sounds and ideas brought to life in rooms where the low frequencies of passing freight trains vibrated in the studio, briefly disturbing the birds in the rafters. And like most new ideas, ‘Post Tropical’ is hard to describe. It requires attention and engagement. It seduces you towards hidden depths. McMorrow’s acclaimed debut album, ‘Early in the Morning’, reached number 1, went platinum and picked up a Choice Music Prize nomination upon its release in 2010. Along the way, there were shows everywhere from the Royal Festival Hall to Later…with Jools Holland, and a breakout hit in the charity cover of Steve Winwood’s ‘Higher Love’. McMorrow’s first record was the formative sounds of a songwriter who suddenly found people giving a damn. “I’m so proud of that album, but I never longed to be a guy with a guitar. You play these songs live as best you can, and suddenly you’re a Folk musician. But the texture of this record is completely different. This is the kind of stuff I actually listen to.” Wiping the palate of ‘Early in the Morning’ clean, Post Tropical’ is a stunning piece of work. Its broadened horizons may come as a surprise to everyone but James and the people who know him best. “I found a zip drive recently, which dates back to before I made my first record, and I’d re-recorded every single part of the N.E.R.D album – apart from the vocals – just for the joy of it.

  • PRESSEMITTEILUNG 19.05.2016 James Vincent Mcmorrow Am 26
FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH Große Elbstr. 277 a ∙ 22767 Hamburg Tel.
