The presenters: Gary Khor is a Tai Chi grandmaster with qualifications from Beijing & Shanghai Universities of Physical Education. Gary is the founder & president of the Australian Academy of Tai Chi, and author of 25 books and instructional DVDs. He was a lecturer at the 1st Fitness Leader Training Course conducted by Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, and NSW Department of Sport & Recreation. Grandmaster Khor was an advisor to the Australian Falls Research program at Prince Alfred Hospital in 2000. In December 2016, he presented his latest Tai Chi research at the Falls Conference in Melbourne to doctors, professors, and physiotherapists from Australia, NZ, and Asia. Master Rod Ferguson: Presented at International Tai Chi Symposium in USA, Geriatric Medicine and the International Falls Prevention Conferences in New Zealand. Taught Tai Chi for 30 years, and conducted many Falls Prevention Training Courses. Aaron Khor: A Health Science graduate from the University of Western Sydney. Aaron is currently at nd his 2 year in Chinese Medicine at Sydney University of Technology. He is researching Chinese medical exercises & Western health science. Success depends on mastering correct body posture, mind focus, and breathing technique. The roots of Tai Chi traces back to the Shaolin Temple where Bodhidarma first introduced Yi Jin Jing Yoga which evolved into Shaolin Lohan Qigong. In the Wudang mountain, Taoist Zhang San Feng with the aid of Taoist philosophy transformed Shaolin Kung Fu and created Tai Chi martial art. Workshop Skills covered in this session include head-torso-leg alignment, diaphragmatic breathing and energy projection. Micro Orbit Qigong & Yi Jin Jing (Grandmaster Gary Khor), Baduanjin Qigong (Master Aaron) 1.30pm - 4.30pm Bio-Mechanics of Tai Chi $185 Traditionally Tai Chi is a martial art practised in slow motion. A body-mind interactive system of balanced movements, relaxed stretching, and precise mental coordination. This session explores the strength of Shaolin “Lohan qigong”, the relaxed stretching of Taoist Yoga “Lotus Qigong”, and the power of the inner structure of Tai Chi. Success in mastering the art of Tai Chi requires techniques in grounding and centring, and to activate reaction force, spinal thrust energy, and Qi projection. Workshop Skills covered include: The Eight Forces of Tai Chi & Self Defence applications (Grandmaster Gary Khor) Lotus & Lohan Qigong (Senior Master Rod) SUN 3rd Sept 9.30 am - 12.30pm Mind power of Tai Chi $150 Discovery of Neuroplasticity - the ability of the brain to form new synaptic connections (rewiring the brain), has led neuro scientists to use energy (light, sound, vibration, electricity, and motion) to awaken the brain’s own healing capacities. The use of energy and mind to heal has been central to traditional Eastern medicine. This session explores Tai Chi and Qigong as a biofeedback healing medium. Grandmaster Khor was involved in Biofeedback research back in 1975, and the knowledge gained then now open new insight into using Tai Chi and qigong movements as a biofeedback medium to explore body-mind interaction, and healing capabilities.
