Background Information Cities today occupy only about 2% of the total land, but they are responsible for over 60% of Global Energy Consumption and 70% of Greenhouse Gas Emissions. During the rapidly increase of urbanization and energy demands, APEC member economies need to face the challenge of global climate change.

Sustainable Development Goals/Goal 11 “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”

Two Specific Aspirational Goals of EWG “To double the share of renewables in the APEC energy mix, including in power generation by 2030; to reduce APEC’s aggregate energy intensity by 45% from 2005 levels by 2035.”
