Prelude ~ “Were you There” Linker “O Sacred Head” Burkhardt

Welcome

Call to Worship Today we remember Jesus was crucified. He was pierced for our transgressions. He suffered and died for our iniquities. We remember the sacrifice of our Lord with gratitude because his death gives us life and brings redemption to the world. Let us worship our Savior.

Prayer of Invocation O God, who for our redemption gave your only Son to the death of the cross, and by his glorious resurrection delivered us from the power of our enemy: grant us so to die daily to sin, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection, now and forever.

Hymn:“How Deep the Father’s Love”

Verse 1: Verse 2: How deep the Father’s love for us, Behold the man upon a cross, How vast beyond all measure, My sin upon His shoulders; That He should give His only Son Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice To make a wretch His treasure. Call out among the scoffers. How great the pain of searing loss – It was my sin that held Him there The Father turns His face away, Until it was accomplished; As wounds which mar the Chosen One His dying breath has brought me life – Bring many sons to glory. I know that it is finished.

Verse 3: I will not boast in anything, No gifts, no power, no wisdom; But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection. Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer; But this I know with all my heart – His wounds have paid my ransom.
