FOLLOW THE STAR

Well, it’s happening already, and we still have some time to go. That Christmas thing! As soon as the pumpkins have gone, the novelty gifts appear, and I’m trying to think positively about it all. Soon everywhere you go you’ll hear the same music, a glorious mixture of the old (Hark the Herald), the seasonal (Deck the halls) and the popular, with the Pogues and Slade stealing the show, all competing for the top sing-a-long slots, as you queue up at the checkout. And I really, really, really don’t want to get fed up about it, because I think that the Christmas story is one of the best stories ever - when God became a human being and said to each one of us (before Mariah Carey had sung a note), ‘All I want for Christmas is YOU!’ So – come and join us - and “Follow the Star” - as we sing and worship throughout the Mission Community. The times, dates and venues are in the middle pages.

And in the meantime, just to whet your appetite, put on your Christmas Jumper, and croon along with me! I’m dreaming of a white Christmas I’m dreaming of a white Christmas Just like the ones I used to know With stockings full of precious things Where treetops glisten and children listen That we bought last summer To hear sleigh bells in the snow Each one a stunner Don’t search in vain for diamond rings! I’m dreaming of a white Christmas There’s not a freezing church in sight I’m dreaming of a white Christmas With all heating working That just keeps going on and on. And plumbers lurking And the love of Jesus To keep us warm through Christmas night. It thrills and frees us Despite the length of each sermon !! I’m dreaming of a white Christmas Where every church is full of song I’m dreaming of a white Christmas And the people love it Blessings to each community. And rise above it And this rhyme is tricky If they cannot sing along. It’s very tricky.. To rhyme and scan like Calverleigh … I’m dreaming of a white Christmas And there’s a love for old and new. Where there’s no complaining No spirits waning And a bum on every pew. Wishing you peace and joy this Christmas I’m dreaming of a white Christmas and throughout 2020 With shepherds starring in a play. And in striped pyjamas Steph Three kings on llamas Bring socks for Jesus in the hay. Please read additional information from Steph on Page 3, 10 & 11
