HCA Healthcare is a physician- empowered company where a passion for clinical excellence and patient-centered care combine with scale and shared resources to advance the practice of medicine.

We are fortunate to have more than 3,400 physicians committed to supporting our clinical and safety agendas in communities along Florida’s west coast. From small practices to multispecialty groups, our physicians offer a wide range of office settings and locations for patients to receive healthcare services. This includes HCA Physician Services Group, which is comprised of locally managed practices.

Within our hospitals, a number of specialists work closely with our primary care physicians to support the unique needs of patients in the acute care setting. Together we share the goal of improving the lives of the patients we serve through collaboration and best practices.

2020 was designated The Year of the Nurse. How prophetic, as the pandemic is placing an even larger spotlight on nurses, who are on the frontline around the world caring for their patients and their communities.

In the HCA Healthcare West Florida Division, our nurses are leading the way with seven units earning national Unit of Distinction awards, placing them in the top five percent. Honorable mention awards went to an additional eight units, placing them in the top six to 10 percent of all HCA Healthcare units.

Our commitment to the nursing profession continued with the completion of a $2 million Center for Clinical Advancement, located in Brandon. Here nurses can train in a state-of-the- art simulation center. Among them are 638 new graduate nurses in the Nurse Residency StaRN program, which provides support to new nurses as they enter the profession. With HCA Healthcare’s partnership with the Galen School of Nursing, locally we were able to add a campus at Northside Hospital providing opportunities for students to gain valuable hospital experience.

Additionally, we supported 5,606 nursing students through agreements with local nursing schools. Our goal is to encourage nurses to earn advance certifications and degrees.
