Dăian Anca Elena 3. Dimén Ildikó CASTING Sam Winchester est un personnage de fiction de la série télévisée Supernatural, interprété par Jared Padalecki. Il est le fils de John et Mary Winchester et il a un grand frère de 4 ans son aîné, Dean Winchester. Sam perdit sa mère à l'âge de 6 mois, un démon aux yeux jaunes avait tué sa mère et mis le feu à la maison familiale. John se concentrera, par la suite, uniquement à son activité de chasseur et c'est Dean qui s'occupera de son frère. Mais ce qu'ils découvriront plus tard, c'est que le démon aux yeux jaunes, meurtrier de la mère des deux Winchester et de la petite amie de Sam, Jessica, avait fait boire à Sam son propre sang. Sam décide de suivre Dean, abandonnant ses études, le temps de retrouver John Winchester et le « démon aux yeux jaunes » en référence à son regard. Melinda Gordon est un personnage de fiction de la série télévisée Ghost Whisperer, interprété par Jennifer Love Hewitt. Récemment mariée à Jim dont elle est éperdument amoureuse, Melinda n'aspire qu'à une existence douce et tranquille entre son mari, son amie et la boutique d'antiquités. Mais elle ne peut ignorer le don rare hérité de sa grand-mère : elle parle avec les morts, les voit et accepte de répondre à leur appel pour les aider à passer dans l'au-delà, se faisant leur intermédiaire auprès des vivants. Au fur et à mesure que l'histoire avance, on en apprend plus sur les personnages et sur la mythologie de la série. This particular cyclical genre influx was notable for the resurgence and reformulating of the amateur sleuth; this time remerging as the gifted police consultant, a figure capable of insights that the police could not manage. I term these new shows ‘consultant procedurals’. Consequently, the genre moved away from dealing with the ills of society and instead focused on the mystery of crime. Refocusing the genre gave rise to new issues. Questions are raised about how knowledge is gained and who has the right to it. With the individual consultant spearheading criminal investigation, without official standing, the genre is re-inflected with issues around legitimacy and power. The genre also reengages with age-old questions about the role gender plays in the performance of investigation. With the aim of answering these questions one of the jobs of this thesis is to find a way of analysing genre that accounts for both its larger cyclical, shifting nature and its simultaneously rigid construction of particular conventions.
