Yes, that's one million messages per second on a z/OS queue manager. Lecture Inter They were small and non-persistent, but with WebSphere MQ V7.1 and z196 hardware, performance has improved again. In this session, we'll talk about the new performance numbers and some of the tuning you can do to improve your queue manager's performance--or squeeze more work into it. All attendees WebSphere MQ for z/OS Security Marcel Amrein More than ever, security issues are on the top of everyone's list. Find out about the approach taken by Lecture Inter WebSphere MQ for controlling access to MQ resources and the recommended best practices. This session will introduce the authentication features of WebSphere MQ, including SSL/TLS and channel authentication rules; how MQ uses profiles for authorisation of objects; audit and event messages and how message content can also be secured with WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security. All attendees A Hitchhiker's Guide to Java Marc Beyerle Undoubtedly, there are still many misconceptions and stereotypes when it comes to Java Performance on Lecture Inter Performance on System z System z. This session will start with a short summary of the most common myths and will try to bust them during the course of the presentation. The focus will be on practical information (approaches, tools, etc.) and real-world examples, so the audience will walk away with new knowledge of what and where to look for, where to get more information and who to contact in order to get support. In addition to this, a set of common pitfalls will be presented, including how to avoid them. All attendees Porting Java applications to System z Marc Beyerle While the "write once, run everywhere" mantra in Java is widely known to the public, not many people have Lecture Inter actually been involved in porting Java applications to the IBM mainframe. Reality shows that sometimes there are subtle things to take care about and porting is not as straightforward as desired. This session summarizes the speaker's experience in this area and gives tips what to watch out for, where the easy-to-change things are and how to get help in case the porting gets stuck. The presentation will not be based on theoretical exercises, but on practical, hands-on experience from past projects. All attendees SAP Solution on System z – Business Philippe Deverge, Franz This presentation is both an overview, an update of SAP on System zEnterprise. Covering the SAP database Lecture Inter Value, Technical Overview Update and ludwig Voelker (DB2 for z/OS), The Application Servers (on Linux for System z, AIX, Windows & zBX) - with a Business roadmap emphasis with customer examples. It will discuss the latest technical and product information, solution sizing as well as where to get help. All attendees WebSphere App Server for z/OS Peter Enrico Lecture Inter Performance Health Check All attendees 45 Years Strong: IMS Introduces Its Thomas Esser Welcome to IMS 13! In this session we will walk you through the spectrum of technical enhancements for IMS Lecture Basic Most Innovative Release Database, Transaction Manager, System Services, and Connectivity delivered with IMS 13. Whether your business focus is reducing total cost of ownership (TCO), taking advantage of IMS open access capabilities to support growth, reducing outages, improving connectivity, all of which are made even simpler in this release, you are sure to find a ton of useful information to ignite the spark for your migration plans. All attendees IMS and the new front-ends Thomas Esser GUI and IMS? Here you will get the latest information about how to administrate IMS with the new front-end Lecture Basic the Administration console. All attendees Securing your MQ messages with AMS Carl Farkas This session will explain why you should be considering WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security (AMS) to Lecture Basic protect your MQ messages. This product has been available for a few years and offers non-intrusive end-to- end security for your MQ messages with integrity checking and encryption leveraging a PKI infrastructure with X.509 certificates. You'll learn how it works and how to implement it, both on your z/OS as well as your Distributed environment. All attendees Discover MQ z/OS features Carl Farkas, Marcel Amrein This series of hands-on labs will give you the opportunity to discover several features of MQ on z/OS including Lab Basic Shared Queues with SMDS, File Transfer with MQ and Pub/Sub and Channel Authentication. Each lab is independent and typically takes 45 minutes; you can do as many as you'd like. All attendees Discover the Integration Broker on Carl Farkas, Carsten Mai This session will allow you to discover latest version of the IBM Integration Broker (IIB), formerly known as the Lab Basic z/OS WebSphere Message Broker (WMB). This series of hands-on labs allows you to configure and start your own Broker on z/OS, and then additionally do a bit of quick development to understand how the Broker allows you to easily integrate z/OS corporate data on CICS, DB2, VSAM, QSAM, etc. The various labs generally take about 60 minutes and can be combined as you find appropriate depending upon your specific interests. All attendees WebSphere Application Server for David Follis We like to say that WebSphere Application Server on z/OS is the same as WebSphere on distributed platforms, Lecture Inter z/OS Hidden Gems 2014 only better. Some of what makes it better is integration and exploitation of z/OS itself. But sometimes there are just features and functions that only exist in WAS running on z/OS. The WAS on z/OS development team has a long history of including little 'gems' in the product which have been documented in a series of whitepapers on the IBM Techdocs website (WP101138, WP101464, WP101992, and WP102371). In this session the author of those papers will talk about some of the more recent 'gems' and happily take your suggestions for future gems. All attendees WebSphere Application Server for David Follis WAS z/OS customers continue to adopt the optimized local adapters support to solve real world problems. Lecture Inter z/OS Optimized Local Adapters (WOLA) The technical overview presentations show how WOLA is designed to work, but how are people in the real - Real World Scenarios world using WOLA? This session will provide an overview of the latest capabilities of WOLA and then walk through several customer implementations, explaining the business motivation behind WOLA adoption and showing how the implementation was architected. All attendees WebSphere Liberty Profile - David Follis Liberty is the brand new application server that is part of the WebSphere Application Server product. In this Lecture Inter Embedding, Exploiting and Integrating session we will discuss: what Liberty is and why it is generating so much interest, how it integrates with and with z/OS exploits the z/OS platform, how you it might fit into your own z/OS infrastructure, and how other products such as z/OS MF are making use of Liberty. This session will leave you with a solid understanding of Liberty and how you can include Liberty in your System z architectural decisions. All attendees Assimilating WebSphere Application David Follis Whenever IBM talks about WAS on z/OS (either Traditional Full Profile or the new Liberty Profile) we always Lecture Inter Server into your z/OS WLM go on and on about integration with z/OS and with WLM. In this session we'll look at how that actually Configuration happens. What does WebSphere actually do to integrate with WLM? What things in your WLM policy need to change or adjust? We'll spend most of our time on the Traditional Full Profile WAS server (because there's a lot more to cover) but we'll also get into Liberty and how it interacts with WLM. Whether you're an old hand at WLM who would like to know more about this WAS thing or a WAS administrator who wants to understand how decisions you make in your server affect the rest of the system, you'll find something of interest here.
