Be known by all that following the Christian law of marriage, a contract has been established between Andres Merckhel on one side, and Catharina Wurtz, daughter of Jerg Würtz burgher in Eschbach, other side. First, promise the new husband and wife to confirm by celebration in the church this union, second the new husband has decided that should he soon or later die, as long as she will live as widow have her share on the mill in Soufflenheim owned by the married man, and that she will use it at her convenience. Second, except that she will have to find there the means to educate the children born to him from first marriage until they are grown up, and promises that she will educate them in the fear of God. Third, if at time of the husband’s death or later, the widow would not like to keep the mill and that one child by first marriage would like to do this, she would be authorized so and keep her right on one part as inheritance. Fourth, the new husband promise to give his bride as wedding clothes 10 schillings. On his side Jerg Würtz the father promises his new son in law 25 Gulden in place of house. All this in presence of Lorentz Schaeffter, woods forester, Joseph Burchardt, smith, both in Soufflenheim, and Jerg Würtz, the bride’s father in Eschbach. HANS PETER MEYER & MARIA ELISABETHA BERNHART 29 March 1681 Haguenau 6E16/57 Marriage Contract Marriage contract between the right honorable Hans Peter Meyer, son of Simon Meyer, burgher in Schirrhein, bachelor, on one side and the right honorable Maria Elisabetha Bernhart, widow of deceased Mathis Bähr, in his lifetime a miller in Soufflenheim, on the other side ; passed on the 29 March 1681 this contract as follows: The married man promises that he will pay for all debts present due by the new bride to the two children so : when one reaches 14 years of age, and the other in case he decides to marry, both will receive their share on their father’s estate, in mobiliary and immobiliary, so 50 Gulden and also the new married man will pay for their clothes, food and religious education and raise them in praise of God, and in case he or his new wife would die, the children in question will be considered as their heirs as the local usage. But in case the bride would die before the new husband and without heirs, she promises that her husband would receive as widow’s gift the use of the mill in Soufflenheim and of the garden besides, one side the forest, other side the Laubach river, in front the common property, behind the farm named Rittershof. This contract took place in presence of, on the husband’s side, his father Simon Meyer, also Georg Issemann provost and Andres Harter, all of them burghers in Schirrein, and Lorentz Oster burgher in Gambsheim. On the bride’s side: Hans Jacob Schäffter, provost in Soufflenheim and Michel ..mann, burgher in Gunstett (beginning of name erased) Haguenau as above. [No Signatures] PETER HEYTZ & BRIGITTA KRIEGER 06 January 1684 Haguenau 6E16/312, Bundle 2, Marriage Contract Marriage contract between the honorable Peter Heytz, burgher in Wintershausen, on one side, and the honorable Brigitta, daughter of honorable Adolph Krieger burgher in Soufflenheim, and first: The new married man promises to the bride the third share of his house and yard, but this house is part of property in Köngisbruck, the second third of this house as widow’s property and to enjoy her lifelong ; same the husband promises to his bride in case she would live longer than himself one half piece field district In der Anwandt uff die Scholten, one side the new hospital of Haguenau, second side Görg Weber, up another district, down another one, in all free property ; on the other side the bride promises her husband all what she has inherited as shared property. JOHANNES WACK & CATHARINA MATHIS 12 April 1692 Haguenau 6E16/53 Marriage Contract Marriage contract in Soufflenheim between Johannes Wack son of Georg Wack deceased, and : Catharina Mathis, daughter of deceased Jerg Mathis in his lifetime burgher in Soufflenheim. HANS BERGER & ANNA GIGER 1693 Haguenau 6E16/58 Marriage Contract Marriage contract in Soufflenheim of Hans Berger, burgher there, to Anna Giger, widow of deceased Joseph Burckher former burgher of Soufflenheim ; witnesses Bartel Jerger, Michel Daul, Ulrich, and Hans Jacob Schaeffter, provost. CARL BILSTEIN & PERGOLLA ROSCH 1707 Haguenau 6E16/53 Marriage Contract Marriage contract in Soufflenheim between Carl Bilstein in Soufflenheim, and : Pergolla Rosch (marriage contract, no mention of parents) ; in presence of Hans Jacob Scheffter, provost, Hans Peter Dobler, member of the local justice, Michel Kehlhoffer member of the justice, Hans Caspar Jeck, cousin, Johannes Seyler, schoolteacher, all in Soufflenheim. ANDRES MOSSER & ANNA MARGARETHA REGENOLDT 20 June 1707 Haguenau 6E16/53 Marriage Contract Marriage contract in Soufflenheim between Andres Mosser, burgher and baker in Soufflenheim, and : Anna Margaretha Regenoldt, widow of deceased Adan Seitz, in his lifetime a burgher in Stollhoffen. Witnesses : Hans Jacob Scheffter, provost in Soufflenheim, Hans Peter Dobler, Adam Scheffter, Paul Mosser, Joseph Burghert, all in Soufflenheim. CATHARINA SIGER & HANS LOHR 21 April 1709 Roeschwoog 6E33 Marriage Contract Today 21 April 1709: Hans Lohr burgher here widower, has declared his intention to get married to Catharina Anger, in presence of witness Hans Peter Dobler member of the local justice. So has been promised by the future husband to his future wife first a garden in all property one side Claus Dreyer other side Adam Mey up towards the common property and down is Adam Harter’s heirs, more one piece field district Hungerfeld, upper part towards the district Stein gruben, one side Joseph Burgert, other side Philips Kiefer’s heirs, up the path, down district Sultzmatt. He also promises to his future wife that in time of his death, in case there are no children born to them, she will receive 20 Gulden and will have nothing to pay on this in absence of children; same it had been decided by his deceased wife Catharina Siger that at time of her death 20 Gulden should be given to her nearest friend, so these must be paid in any case. If they were to have their own heirs, the property would be best shared between the children. Were present at the discussion of this marriage contract: Hans Jacob Schaeffter, currently provost here, Hans Peter Dobler, member of the local court, Michel Kehlhoffer, member of local justice, Adam Schaeffter, Velten Werner and Hans Jacob Zetwoch. LORENTZ NOLTH & MARGARETHA ANGER 08 May 1712 Haguenau 6E16/54 Marriage Contract Marriage contract in Soufflenheim between Lorentz Nolth, son of deceased Hans Peter Nolth in his lifetime a burgher in Soufflenheim and of Maria Dobler his wife, and : Margaretha Anger, widow of deceased Peter Salchner in his lifetime a burgher there. Witnesses : Hans Jacob Scheffter, provost, Michel Köhlhofner, Andres Meyer and Adam Scheffter, all in Soufflenheim. JOHANNES REDMOSSER & ANNA MARIA GEIGER 14 November 1719 Haguenau 6E16/54 Marriage Contract Marriage contract in Soufflenheim between Johannes Redmosser native of Oberwissen parish of Grossauer, jurisdiction of Dürrbach, and : Anna Maria Geiger, widow in Soufflenheim, assisted by witnesses : Adam Schaeffter, Adam Mey, Johannes
