CLOS DU MONT-OLIVET Lirac Rouge
Wine Facts CLOS DU MONT-OLIVET Lirac Rouge The family estate of Clos du Mont-Olivet is the collector’s choice for traditional, aromatic and age-worthy southern Rhône blends. This multi- generational estate was one of the first wineries North Berkeley Imports partnered with in the south of France more than 25 years ago; since then, the estate has come to symbolize both what we seek out in winemaker- partners and importantly, what we hold true and dear in great wine. Always elegant, aromatic and long-lived, these wines reflect not only the rich character of southern Rhône terroir but also the subtle, spicy personalities of the region’s native grapes. Clos du Mont-Olivet is “one of the great estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape,” says the Wine Advocate. WINERY: Clos du Mont-Olivet WINEMAKER: Thierry Sabon ESTABLISHED: 1932 REGION: FRANCE • Rhône Valley • Châteauneuf-du-Pape APPELLATION: Lirac AOC BLEND: 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Cinsault VINEYARDS: Estate vineyards are located on the “rive droite” of Rhône river, due west of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, near the villages of Saint-Laurent des Arbres and Saint-Genies-de-Comolas. A selection from some 12 parcels with soils that are sandy, with flint and ‘galets roulés,’ or large quartz stones. AGE OF VINES: 20-30 years WINEMAKING: Hand-harvested. West Side Wine Club May 2011 President’s Musings ! ! April showers bring…. May showers. Our cool spring continues, although the grapevines have budded, the next stumbling block is blossoming. Once blossoming has occurred, the rate of ripening is has little room for variation. A grape, after all, can only ripen so fast. But there are factors at work that do effect ripening. In a perfect year, we would have 80 degree days all day, never over- but Scheduled Meetings rarely under. January 19, 2011 During this time period, we watch carefully hoping to purchase good grapes. This year has been a Crush Talk struggle so far. Viticulturists in eastern Washington have been hesitant to commit so far. The freeze January 22, 2011 last fall has wine makers running around trying to find out how much they have and if they can Holiday Party/Awards replace any shortfalls. This means that when the growers tells us what’s available, we will need to Gala jump on our orders to insure we can get a variety of grapes. Some grapes will not be a problem. Others will be difficult to purchase. Sammy has been in discussions with growers and will let us know February 16, 2011 when he knows more. Red Bordeaux Tasting But this is also a time to think about purchasing barrels. May15th is the deadline for purchasing February 27, 2011 barrels at Bouchard cooperages at a discount and with no shipping cost. They make Damy, Vicard, Argyle Winery Tour Billon and Cadus barrels. All their barrels are quite good, although each provides different component to a wine. -

COMMENTS the Original Celebrity Champagne Created in 1876 by Louis Roederer to Satisfy Tsar Alexander II of Russia
98 Entertainment Law Review Background The brand at issue in the present case was CRISTAL, COMMENTS the original celebrity champagne created in 1876 by Louis Roederer to satisfy Tsar Alexander II of Russia. At the time, the political situation in Russia was unstable and the Tsar was in constant fear of his life; he commissioned Roederer to produce bottles made of transparent crystal glass with a flat bottom, in order to foil the insertion of explosives in the indentation by would-be assassins—so that he didn’t go out with a “bang”. After the fall of the Russian monarchy in 1917, Roederer decided to continue producing CRISTAL champagne and market it internationally, and the unique flat-bottomed design, glass and cellophane (shown in the pictures below) are now subject to a series of strict patents. Cristal, Anyone? In the In 1988, Roederer registered a UK trade mark for the United Kingdom, CRISTAL champagne, tipple to the rich, word CRISTAL for champagne wines. It also registered famous and champagne connoisseurs alike, sells for in a Community trade mark (CTM) for the word CRISTAL excess of £175 per bottle in off-licences (and in 2009 in respect of wines, sparkling wines, wines of considerably more in nightclubs and restaurants). -

Moody Vineyard, OR 2018 New Price $140.00 Id
Cabernet Franc - Columbia Valley AVA - Moody Vineyard, OR 2018 New Price $140.00 id. 18MCF Moody Vineyard, located in the Columbia Valley AVA, is perched high above the confluence of the trout-filled Deschutes River and the Columbia River. Western basalt cliffs help shield the vines from the wind blowing down the Columbia Gorge. The east slope offers early sun and provides heat to ripen and develop premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc wine grapes. One of the furthest westerly vineyards in the NW to ripen these varietals successfully. Averaged Lab Readings: Brix: 25.4, pH: 3.71, TA: 3.7 g/L Recommendations: - Add 35 g. tartaric acid and 2 good nutrient doses, ferment to 85° f ICV/BM45. - The ripe grape’s low acidity makes it an ideal candidate for a blend – Super Tuscan Blend with the 2018 Sangiovese. Two pails of Moody Cab. Franc with one pail of 2018 Sangiovese will create a full bodied, aromatic wine. The addition of 1.8 L of unchlorinated water, 64 grams / 2.3 oz of tartaric acid, and a large dose of yeast nutrient will prepare the must for fermentation. Sangiovese - Carneros AVA - Santo Giordano Vineyard, CA 2018 New Price $155.00 id. 18CSG Santo Giordano Vineyard is located in the Carneros AVA next to San Pablo Bay, across Arnold Drive from the Gloria Ferrer Vineyard. The vines are cooled by morning fog and the influx of afternoon marine air. Sangiovese is the primary grape in Tuscany’s Chianti wine. Our California Sangiovese is grown in a region sufficiently hot to allow full sugar and phenolic development, while maintaining fresh acidity.
