The CORAVIN system keeps the cork in the bottle while you explore the finest wines by the glass. The wine that remains in the bottle will continue to evolve naturally 125 ml Glass Egon Muller Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese 2004, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer $32.00 The Rieslings from Egon Müller are widely recognised as amongst the very best in Germany today. He has just under 8 hectares of vines in the world-famous Scharzhofberg vineyard. Grapes are hand-harvested and then pressed without any skin contact before being fermented in large, 1000 litre oak casks in the natural, cool and deep cellars. The wines are usually bottled 6 months later. Müller`s sweet Rieslings are arguably the finest in Mosel. Vinoptima Gewurztraminer 2008, Gisborne $22.00 The 2008 Reserve lives up to the reputation Gewurztraminer has as being the world’s most distinctive white wine. ‘Elegant Rose’ has captured the vibrant and exotic spicy aromas of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg and infused this with tropical scents of lychee, mandarin and a beautiful, pungent rose petal. It is this last characteristic which defines the 2008 and inspired the colloquial name given to each vintage. On the palate the 2008 shows extraordinary intensity and balance with a spectrum of flavours ranging from tropical fruit through to more subdued nuances of dried figs, vanilla bean and ginger. Medium dry in style, this refreshing and flavoursome wine shows exceptional length and balance and should age well with increasing intensity. Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanee 2008 $65.00 Vosne-Romanée is a small commune in Burgundy's Cote de Nuits district. Originally named just Vosne, the village took the suffix Romanée in 1866 in honor of its most prized vineyard, La Romanée. The classic Vosne-Romanée wine is considered by many to have the perfect balance of weight, structure, elegance and longevity. Tasting notes often refer to a combination of tart red fruits (particularly cherries and raspberries) and darker elements of undergrowth, licorice and smoke. The village Vosne Romanee 2008 is a very good effort. Slightly closed - but some red pinot fruit in the bouquet. The oak is very well integrated in the fruit. On the palate very fine balance, with ripe red fruit. Quite fat for a 2008. Château Gruaud Larose 1989 – 2nd Growth – 89 / 100 $75.00 St.Julien is the smallest of the major Bordeaux appellations in the Medoc with 910 hectares under vine. On average, 450,000 cases of wine are produced each year in Saint Julien. As far as classified growths in the Medoc goes, the St. Julien appellation has the highest ratio of classified terroir of any Bordeaux region. Barnyard notes with herbs and some fruit. Light for Gruaud. Château La Tour Blanche 2007, 1er Cru Classé $23.00 Harvested by "tries" require 5 to 6 passages in the same rank, in order to get only the best of the Noble rot. Each vintage is vinified and raised in entirely new french oak barrels, and is matured from 20 to 24 months. Thick, rich, sweet, fat and intense, the wine displays a beautiful, nutty, tropical fruit, pineapple, apricot, vanilla custard and honeyed character.
