Once more he saw the lasgun being pushed into his hand. Once more he saw the door torn apart. Once more he saw his mother’s head disintegrating in a cloud of red mist. Once more he saw the sinister giant dragging his father into an air duct.

The image faded away. Hieronymus stared at the strange figure that loomed before him, its mirror-face now showing utter darkness. “You have already faced your greatest of fears, human child.” The female voice ebbed away.

He could not say whether those words had actually been spoken or only formed in his mind.

“It is him.” One of the grotesquely clothed aliens waiting in the back approached. They were warriors. He had seen them cleansing the ship of their enemies with a kind of grace and elegance he would never forget. The warrior put something at his feet.

“It will ward off evil spirits. Wear it, und you will be able to see it clearly- the path that is yours.” He knelt down to look at their gift.

It was an amulet.

Hieronymus VI. von Remus Hieronymus von Remus VI. was born into a rich and influential family of merchants. His parents, however, were killed in a Chaos raid on their flagship when he was only eight standard years old. He himself was only saved then thanks to the sudden intervention of a band of Eldar Harlequins. Upon reaching majority he surprisingly sold off the conglomerate he had inherited and left home without giving any reason. His aimless wandering took him all across the galaxy, and it was not for long until he entered the dubious profession of a mercenary and rogue trader.
