GOOD STUFF AT ST. PAT’S - GOOD GIVING, GOOD GRACE AND A GOOD GOD!!!

As we welcome Fr. Olivier Günst Horn to St. Patrick’s Church this weekend, we certainly are blessed with so much faith and good will within our community. Last month, we were blessed to host a Quinceañera and Engaged Encounter Retreat for the sake of the diocese. On June 19th, the Círculo de Oración hosted an evening vigil for the faithful which took them into the long hours of the night. And on Monday the 4th, we host our sixteen hours of reconciliation (from 8:00 a.m. until midnight) in honor of St. John Vianney, with a bilingual Mass at 7:00 p.m. and adoration to be held through the evening.

On the campus front, we were blessed last month to receive a special gift, a plot of land directly behind our parking lot (and the limestone corner of the lot, which, by the way, were taken from the original church on Broadway Street and transplanted to this section of our property). We are in the process of deciding what to do with our newly acquired gift. For now, the most economical solution is to level the plot with our existing parking lot and to utilize the grassy area for parish events. We also are blessed that some plumbing engineers at the parish have donated their time to fix one of two broken boiler wa- ter pumps in the rectory basement (the other pump was fixed last winter). We are still in dialogue con- cerning the carpet situation in the church building. As with much that we do at the parish, with the God-inspired kindness of our parishioners, so much has and will be accomplished at St. Patrick’s!

With everything else going on at the parish, we are also in the midst of our Religious Education Regis- tration Sunday at St. Patrick’s. As we have stated during the last few months, we would like to get a bet- ter count of those who will be attending our program, so for the second year in a row we have imple- mented an early/late tuition policy here at the parish. For those who register their children for classes and pay their tuition in full by August 4th, a $25 discount is applied to their tuition. For those who reg- ister their children after August 4th, a $25 late fee applies. We need to do this so that Julie Dillenburg has the opportunity to find teachers for our classes and for us to reach our 2014-2015 Budget for the RE Program. I wish to thank Mimi Hernandez (the Chair of our Finance Committee) who handles the RE Tuition for us at St. Pat’s as well as Julie Dillenburg (our Director of the Religious Education Program). Both do a great in their respective ministries and we are blessed to have them both in the parish.

August is going to be a very busy, active month at St. Pat’s. If you are a person of prayer, you are invited to attend any or all of our spiritual activities that we hold during the weeks ahead: our Círculo prayer group on Sunday nights at 5:00 p.m., our Holy Hour at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, our Legion of Mary Meet- ings on Wednesdays following the 7:00 p.m. Mass and, in the fall, our Alpha Adult Education Program here at the parish. Once a month, we offer an all- St. Pat’s Church night adoration and this Monday, we will extend Ad- oration until midnight to accompany our evening of Online Giving confession. I am even told our adorers wish to extend Thursday adoration through the wee hours of the night - our prayer for perpetual adoration continues to grow! God Bless, Check it Out at www.stpatsjoliet.com Online Giving is a great way to support the parish without having to use envelopes or while you are on vacation or away from the parish. Save the hassles and sign up now! MINISTRY & FINANCE PAGE 3
