GWEN FARRAR AND BILLY MA1'LRL COMBINE IN AN ARTISTIC PARTNERSHIP. CLARA SERENA (Contralto) With Piano Accompaniments by Roy Mellish My Dearest Heart - - Sullivan )1 K-05252 Lament of Isis - - - - Bantcck I T is sometimes forgotten that, though Sullivan was not a very prolific song-writer, " The Lost Chord " was not by any means his only achievement in this line. " My Dearest Heart " was another, and that it is still full of appeal Mme. Clara Serena has con- vincingly shown. Entirely different in character, though no less excellent in quality, is Granville Bantock's " Lament of Isis," and of this likewise Mme. Serena has furnished a most finished and expressive rendering. ROY HENDERSON (Baritone) With Piano Accompaniments by Stanley Chapple The Two Grenadiers - Schumann Love when I gaze into thine eyes Schumann K-05250 and Morning Hymn - - Henschel ERE are two of the finest and most universally-admired of Schumann's many great songs magnificently interpreted by one of the most brilliant of our younger singers-one who has madeH his way to the very front with truly extraordinary rapidity. Everyone knows " The Two Grenadiers," that dramatic setting of Heine's touching poem, in which the refrain of " La Marseillaise " is so effectively introduced at the close, while " Love, when I gaze into thine eyes " is one of the most appealing of all this great master's many exquisite love songs. Henschel's noble " Morning Hymn," which follows the latter, is worthy of its companionship, and completes a record which gives good value indeed. HOWETT WORSTER (Baritone) & CHORUS With Orchestral Accompaniments When Britain really Ruled the Waves (from " lolanthe ") - Gilbert-Sullivan HOWETT WORSTER (Baritone) X-9874 10" 31. The Sentry Song (from " lolanthe ") Gilbert-Sullivan TO enlarge on either of these famous numbers would be truly a work of supererogation, so far at least as English-speaking readers are concerned. Attention may be called, however, to the supremely effective way in which both have been " put over " by Mr. Worster, one of the most popular Gilbert-and-Sullivan exponents " Down Under," and to the exceptionally fine quality of the recording, as well as to the extraordinarily low price at which this record is issued. GLADYS MONCRIEFF & ROBERT CHISHOLM Duets with Orchestral Accompaniments Paradise for Two Simson-Tate I - - Fraser (from " Maid of the Mountains ") ý K-05249 12" 4.'6 Letter Song " Sybil ") Jacobi j (from - - A PART altogether from its intrinsic merits, particular interest attaches to this record, inasmuch as both of the artists who 1 1 have joined forces to produce it played in the pieces from which the two numbers are drawn with the greatest success in Australia. In this country Mr. Robert Chisholm is, of course, well-known for his dramatic song scenas (one of the finest of which, " La Reve passe," X-9841, was included among our September issues), while Miss Moncrieff is the happy possessor of a splendid voice which she turns to the best possible account. FRANK TITTERTON (Tenor) With Piano Accompaniments by Stanley Chapple Come away, Death and 1 O Mistress Mine - - - Roger Quilter K-05251 T,. ,.1. The extraordinary charm of Mr. Sandler's play- ing, which has won for him such prodigious popularity at the hands of his countless " wireless " hearers, is now preserved indefinitely. TRUMPET MAJOR H. N. HARMAN (Cornet) With the Band of H.M. Life Guards Under the Direction of Lieut. H. Eldridge has again been very happy in his selection. In " 0 Sole Mio F " and The Rosary " he has chosen two of the biggest " winners ever penned. Nor need it be added how supremely effectively both have been rendered in this instance, with that great artist, Trumpet- Major Harman, aiding and abetting with his cornet as interpreter of the solo parts. MOSCHETTO E HIS ORCHESTRA At the Savoy Hotel, London La Boheme - - - - - Puccini X-9875 1913/- Selection, Parts 1 and 2 is the most popular opera ever written ?
