The Emmy and Grammy award winning Mormon Tabernacle Choir is known worldwide for its one-of-a-kind signature sound created by 360 volunteer voices and lead by renowned composer and director . With its companion all-volunteer Orchestra at , symphony orchestra organized in 1999 with a roster of over 200 instrumentalist, the Choir is heard by millions worldwide through , radio, satellite and internet broadcasts, concert tours, and recordings. United by their faith and shared love of music, the Choir and the Orchestra serve as musical ambassadors for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Since its first tour to in 1893, the Choir has traveled extensively across the and abroad. The Choir has performed in music capitals from to , to Australia and throughout Europe on multiple occasions.

The 2018 Classic Coast Tour will take the Choir and Orchestra to California where the Choir first performed in 1896. In the years since, the Choir has traveled to California for over 40 performances! The tour will finish with concerts in British Columbia—their third visit to —and , Washington, where they first performed in 1909.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir first traveled to Europe on a seven-week concert tour in 1955. Since that first grand European tour, the Choir has toured there five other times: to western and in 1973, northern Europe in 1982, Eastern Europe in 1991, and southern Europe in 1998, and to Central Europe in 2016.

The Choir has also performed at the inaugurations of seven U.S. presidents. With the Symphony, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performed for over 3.5 billion people during the Opening Ceremony of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in .

The Choir has earned five gold and two platinum records in the United States. In addition it has been awarded the U.S. and was inducted into both the National Association of Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame and the American National . Renowned guest artists who have appeared with the Choir include , Rolando Villazón, , Renée Fleming, , The King’s Singers, , Sissel, , , , , Audra McDonald, as well as narrators , , , David McCullough, , , and . The Choir has its own recording label, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which has released 36 CDs and 18 DVDs since 2003. Billboard® Magazine named the Mormon Tabernacle Choir the #1 Traditional Classical Albums Artist for 2012. Since 2003, the Choir and Orchestra have had 12 #1 albums on Billboard’s classical list. Their latest recording, Tree of Life: Sacred Music of Mack Wilberg, was released on May 4, 2018.

Over 200 recordings have showcased the Choir from the early days of long-playing records to modern digital compact discs and DVDs. The group’s 1959 release of “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” recorded with and the Orchestra, won a Grammy award for Choir conductor Richard P. Emmy® Awards: in 1987 for the musical special Christmas Sampler, in 1989 a Special Governors Award for Music and the Spoken Word, in 2013 for The Joy of Song with Katherine Jenkins and in 2014 for The Mormon Tabernacle Choir Presents an Evening with .

The Choir’s weekly Music and the Spoken Word program has established an unparalleled record of continuous network broadcasting. Heard each week since 1929, the program will soon begin its 90th year of uninterrupted broadcasts. Offered as a public service to broadcasters, the non- denominational program features musical selections by the Choir and Orchestra, accompanied by the magnificent Tabernacle organ, with a short inspirational message each week. Originating from the venerable Mormon Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, the broadcast is carried on radio, television, and cable networks across the country and around the world and is available on the Choir’s YouTube channel. The channel, launched in October 2012, has garnered over 130 million views from around the world with over 200,000 subscribers.

Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Choir’s annual concert from Temple Square, is now a Christmas tradition on PBS every year. Through a new partnership with WGBH and BYU Broadcasting, the program is reaching a broader audience than ever before.
