The Dons last lifted this trophy in 1990, when they defeated today’s opponents in the first-ever Scottish Cup final penalty shoot-out after a 0-0 draw over 90 minutes of normal play and 30 minutes of extra-time. Brian Irvine converted the vital kick to give Aberdeen their seventh Scottish Cup victory. Meanwhile, Celtic are the most successful club in this competition with 36 wins, their last victory coming in 2013 when they beat Hibernian 3-0. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to secure his place in Celtic history. Victory would land him the last leg of a domestic treble which has only been achieved by two previous Celtic managers – the legendary Jock Stein and more recently Martin O’Neill. The achievement would carry added significance as it is almost exactly 50 years since the Lisbon Lions lifted the European Cup. Derek McInnes has consolidated Aberdeen’s position as the second force in Scottish football in recent years. They finished runners’ up in the Premiership title race and have already been to one Hampden final this season, losing 3-0 to Celtic in the League Cup. The Pittodrie side last lifted a trophy in 2014 when they won the League Cup, and will be looking to take more silverware back to the Granite City today. The Sportscene team will be telling the story of how this season’s Scottish Cup unfolded. Key players talk about their cup campaigns and aspirations and we’ll have in-depth interviews with the managers. We take a nostalgic walk down memory lane with both clubs, plus we'll bring you all the team news and tactical analysis as kick-off approaches. The programme is introduced by Rob Maclean with Willie Miller, Michael Stewart and Alan Stubbs, with further commentary from Liam McLeod & Steven Thompson. A BBC Sport Scotland Production JG MONDAY 29 MAY – BANK HOLIDAY TV & RADIO HIGHLIGHTS /BBC WEEK 22 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Trusadh - Later Life Care (Cha tig an aois leatha fhèin) NEW Monday 29 May BBC ALBA, 9.00 – 10.00pm A look at how the community cares for the older generation - those that were previously there for us. GM/LG TUESDAY 30 MAY TELEVISION & RADIO HIGHLIGHTS / BBC WEEK 22 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ River City Tuesday 30 May BBC One Scotland HD, 8.00 – 9.00pm facebook.com/bbcrivercity twitter.com/bbcrivercity instagram.com/bbcrivercity This week in Shieldinch…Robbie steals money from the Tall Ship to feed his addiction, framing an innocent party in the process; faced with his own mortality, Angus makes a shocking proposal to Kim; and Frankie’s new boyfriend causes the Roths great concern. Suffering from painkiller withdrawals, Robbie resorts to stealing from the Tall Ship to feed his addiction. When Suzie realises the money has gone, she immediately suspects Jules who takes it as a racist slur. Robbie meets Stevie to buy more painkillers and witnesses Jules storming out of the Tall Ship, bag in hand. However, his moral compass is so skewed by addiction he does nothing to right his wrongs and clear Jules from a crime she didn’t commit. Jules finds a shoulder to cry on in Maggie who knows Robbie is responsible and explains his addiction is clouding his judgement. Her words of wisdom come from bitter experience. Elsewhere, Angus is overwhelmed by the advice from his neurosurgeon, refusing to accept surgery is his only option. He confides in Kim who’s worried he’s given up on life already. With Angus clinging on to the false hope she’s pregnant, Kim’s forced to admit their attempt failed. Desperate to make a difference before it’s too late, Angus makes an indecent proposal to Kim. Frankie delights in shocking her family by introducing new boyfriend, Rick. However, while Greig and Lorna worry about the age difference, Annie knows all too well the real danger Rick poses to her niece.
