Rockstjärnan Steve Vai Inviger Uppsala X Internationella Gitarrfestival! 2013-05-21 03:00 CEST Rockstjärnan Steve Vai inviger Uppsala X Internationella Gitarrfestival! Gitarristen Steve Vai har ett CV som inte liknar någon annans. Han medverkar på 15 miljoner sålda album och skapar med sin outtömliga idérikedom ständigt ny musik för både band och symfoniorkestrar. Nu gör han öppningskonserten, och enda i Sverige, vid 10-årsfirande Uppsala Internationella Gitarrfestival och ger dessutom en exklusiv clinic. Förband blir svenska Freak Kitchen med Mattias IA Eklundh i spetsen! Som 18-åring transkriberade Steve Vai de allra mest avancerade låtarna av Frank Zappa, som blev oerhört imponerad. Några år senare började Steve som ledgitarrist i Zappas band. – Det var lite av en chock! Jag var så ung och hade bara suttit hemma i mitt rum på Long Island och övat på gitarren. Plötsligt var det sena nätter och ett liv jag aldrig hade kunna föreställa mig. Men Frank var alltid reko, säger Steve Vai. Fram till 1982 spelade Vai med Zappa och det var han som fick ta hand om alla svåra, nedskriva solon. Några år senare släppte han sitt första soloalbum, Flex-Able, och 1985 ersatte han Yngwie Malmsteen i bandet Alcatrazz. Efter en skiva och en turné med bandet värvades han sedan av David Lee Roth från Van Halen till hans nya soloband. Under några år var han också medlem i Whitesnake och turnerade jorden runt med "Liquor & Poker World Tour". Steve Vai har gett ut flera soloalbum. Han senaste, The Story of Light, följer en persons inre resa från sorg och tragedi till uppenbarelse, insikt, och lösning. Som gästsångerska medverkar Aimee Mann, känd för soundtracket till filmen Magnolia. Dessutom medverkar Beverly McClellan som inspirerats av vintage-inspelningar av blueslegenden Blind Willie Johnson, vars syra-indränkta röst samplats och mixats in i musiken. Steve Vai är en mångfasetterad musikpersonlighet. Han samarbetar sedan många år med Noord Nederlands Orkest i Groningen som nyligen uruppförde hans The Middle of Everywhere och The fire garden suite, två helt nykomponerade orkesterverk av Vai. Dessutom startade han redan 1998 det han kallar ”Make a Noise Foundation”, som hjälper unga musiker med små ekonomiska resurser att få tillgång till musikutbildning och instrument. – Musik utvecklar hela individen, tänkandet, sinnena, känslorna, allt i samspel med omgivningen. Och de som är intresserade av musik ska inte behöva offra möjligheten att utveckla sin talang på grund av bristande resurser, säger Steve Vai.     Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

    VaiTunes VaiTunes It’s not uncommon for a musician to record more work than they release. In my case I have a digital ocean of snippets in various degrees of completion. Some are leftovers from assorted project recording sessions, projects that were never completed, sound check jams, demo snippets, etc. There are enough lonely unreleased notes in my world to fill an “infinity shelf.” VaiTunes are tracks that are culled from this melodic abyss, brushed off, sometimes severely hosed down, and released as digital singles. These tracks may be specific to a particular project that has never had the chance to be a completed big picture, but now, with the advent of all this digital technology and distribu- tion, it’s possible to release a variety of tracks from a potential project without having to complete the whole project itself. Eventually, if there is enough tracks completed that fall into a precise endeavor, perhaps they will be compiled and released as a cohesive CD. In any event, it’s a good way to release a constant stream of music. Although the plan is to continue to create whole, full-bodied CD releases, VaiTunes can serve as temporary pacifiers for some delectable melodies to be sucked through the ears and absorbed into the soul.
