Instrumental Music Department (Sitar) In 1966 Maharani Laxmi Bai Government College started new course of Instrumental Music in Madhya Pradesh. 1. Dr Sudha Bhandari laid the foundation of Instrumental Music Department in 1970. Department is built in area of 20 x 15 feet. On 15th January 1970, LokSevaAyog appointed Dr. Ramesh Jagde as faculty of Violin and Sita. While working in the college Dr.Jadge was honoured with “Surmani” and “Ratna Shiromani”. In 1985 administration started course for post-graduation degree in Instrumental Music in which post for co-musician (Tabla) was allotted. At that time Prof.Rupshree Dubey was appointed for Sitar, who provided best guidance for graduates and post graduates. After the retirement of Dr.Jagde, Prof Rupshree Dubey and Prof Harshwardhan Thakur, who was appointed from Govt P. G. College Jawara in 2006, jointly guided the students with setting up timely classes for them. 2. After transfer of Prof.Rupshree Dubey in July 2012, Prof. Vinita Verma was appointed from Govt. Girls College Khandawa and took the position of Head of Instrumental Music Department in this college. Mr ShivshankarRavwas appointed as Tabla accompanist in the same department who helped students in Music Practice. 3. Students were taught through lectures and were encouraged to actively participate in group discussions. They were evaluated on basis of class test. 4. Currently there are two posts approved in Instrumental Music Department and 1 Post for Tabla accompanist is also approved. 5. In Instrumental Music Department, both the assistant professor positions are having weekly time fill of 18 hours each. 6. Through all these effort, continuous teaching is going on for graduation and post-graduation at present.

You can seek your guru's help in determining your ideal pitch, which enables you to traverse at least two octaves (from Paa in the lower octave to Paa in the higher octave) comfortable over a period of time. It is equally vital to learn to tune either of these instruments from one's master. Then listen to it carefully and try to register the notes (sa - pa - sa) in your mind. Then try to sing these two constant notes tunefully, making an effort to understand the relationship between the frequencies that "Sa" and "Pa" are sung at. Subsequently, the teacher will introduce the rest of the notes, and here again, you should try to make yourself aware of where (in terms of frequency) they are, with respect to "Sa". Singing in tune is the primary source of joy. Now the teacher can introduce a raga, say Mayamalavagowla, for the basic exercises. Mayamalavagowla is the 15th melakartha with the notes: S R1 G3 M1 P D1 N3 S. Most teachers prefer to use this raga because it has different intervals.

Gracin Liberty University The riches of India’s ancient and diverse culture are proclaimed from the music that communicates the heart of Bharat Mata – Mother India. This sentiment resounds across the vast geographical area of India in songs from Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians and Bollywood composers. The question of how Christians might express their faith in light of societal, historical and religious amalgamations is the topic of discussion for this project. The inquiry will focus on the music culture of North India, specifically as it is expressed in the city of B_____, Uttar Pradesh. A six week field study was conducted in India to interview Hindu musicians and non-musicians. Audio and video recordings were made of the interviews, and photographs and recordings were made of various performances. No. 74 of Annexure II of the said Detailed Agenda Notes relating to Indigenous handmade musical instruments (HS Code 92) which attracts Nil rate of GST, in order to remove ambiguity, there is a need define “Indigenous handmade musical instruments”.
