Grupo de Estudio en Diseño Visual DOI: 10.17151/kepes.2015.12.12.1 Presentamos con agrado el duodécimo número de la Revista Kepes, del Grupo de Estudios en Diseño Visual, el cual se constituye en la segunda entrega del año 2015. El cambio en la periodicidad de la revista ha tenido un impacto positivo en todos los aspectos de la edición, tanto en el aumento de postulaciones recibidas, como en el número de artículos divulgados anualmente y en la integración a este proceso de nuevos profesores e investigadores adscritos a universidades nacionales e internacionales. Las reflexiones que sobre la disciplina del diseño se han reunido en este fascículo, dan continuidad al carácter plural y complementario que caracteriza nuestra publicación, aspecto que se ilustra con los trabajos abajo descritos En primer lugar se incluye el artículo Patrones de color: adaptación a nuevos métodos de captura cromática contextual como estrategia didáctica, aporte de las profesoras Yolima Sánchez Royo y Juliana Castaño Zapata de la Universidad de Caldas, quienes plantean cómo deben integrarse variables técnicas acordes con los nuevos procesos de evaluación cromática en la captura e interpretación de datos, las cuales amplían las estrategias metodológicas empleadas en la formulación de productos de diseño. A continuación viene el artículo Criterios 5 para pensar la planificación de la comunicación ambiental desde perspectivas alternativas, propuesta de los profesores Óscar Julián Cuesta, adscrito a la Fundación Universitaria Los Libertadores, y Sandra Meléndez de la Fundación Universidad del Norte, en cuyo trabajo señalan algunos criterios que ayudan a concretar la planificación de la comunicación ambiental; juicios que tienen por base la revisión de las lógicas actuales a través de las cuales se diseñan ciertos planes de comunicación ambiental. En tercer lugar se encuentra el artículo Reflexiones sobre los determinantes sociales del arte y del diseño: música de ruido en América Latina y Asia, del profesor de la Université du Québec. Outaouais (Canadá), Dimitri De La Falle, cuyo documento está basado en las experiencias que, sobre la interpretación de la música de ruido, ha realizado el autor en América Latina, Asia del Oriente y Asia del Sur Oriente; a lo largo del texto se discurre sobre las determinaciones sociales, el problema de la identidad y de la aceptación que este género alcanza, aspectos que ofrecen un amplio abanico de posibilidades creativas a los artistas y a los diseñadores. Se ha incluido también el artículo El nacimiento del diseño gráfico en la educación superior bogotana, 1948-1963, del profesor de la Universidad Autónoma del Caribe Jairo Alfredo Bermúdez, en el que explica cómo se instauró el diseño gráfico en la educación superior bogotana, puntualmente la propuesta educativa de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia entre 1948 y 1963.     Room 10 Consuming Pop 101 The relationship between art and consumer society is a thread that runs throughout pop art, and this final room deals directly with the lure and act of consumption. The risk that art itself might become a consumable product is mooted in some works here, but others proclaim the power of art to subvert and oppose the operations of global capitalism. Thomas Bayrle’s The Laughing Cow wallpaper makes the cheese company icon omnipresent and inescapable, while Boris Bućan’s series of brand logos transformed into ‘art’ reflect Yugoslavia’s transition to consumerist culture. We have made the pairing of The Owl and The Pussycat in honor of Edward Lear’s poem and with the thought that it is just the kind of association Warhol would have made. In 1978 Martha Graham created a dance entitled The Owl and the Pussycat using the words from Lear’s famous poem. Rudolph Nureyev danced and Liza Minnelli was the narrator. The Owl and the Pussycat played at Covent Garden and in New York City. ( Diaries, p. 229-230) Andy was present at the Covent Garden opening on July 23, 1979. ( Diaries, p. 230) Both The Owl and The Pussycat share the same white background as well as interesting shadows in the photographs. Not exactly dancing “by the light of the moon,” as Lear wrote, but use your imagination!     Andrew Warhola (August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987), known as Andy Warhol, was an American painter, printmaker, and filmmaker who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and member of highly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy patrons. Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books, and feature and documentary films. He coined the widely used expression "15 minutes of fame." In his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, The Andy Warhol Museum exists in memory of his life and artwork. The highest price ever paid for a Warhol painting is $100 million for a 1963 canvas titled Eight Elvises. The private transaction was reported in a 2009 article in The Economist, which described Warhol as the "bellwether of the art market." $100 million is a benchmark price that only Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Pierre-August Renoir, Gustav Klimt and Willem de Kooning have achieved.[1] Commercial art (1949–61) Warhol showed early artistic talent and studied commercial art at the School of Fine Arts at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (now Carnegie Mellon University).[10] In 1949, he moved to New York City and began a career in magazine illustration and advertising. During the 1950s, he gained fame for his whimsical ink drawings of shoe advertisements. These were done in a loose, blotted-ink style, and figured in some of his earliest showings at the Bodley Gallery in New York.
