Résumé : Les études de phylogénie moléculaire sur les Lépidoptères Rhopalocères et Zygènes sont de plus en plus nombreuses ces dernières années modifiant la systématique et la taxinomie de ces deux groupes. Une mise à jour complète est réalisée dans ce travail. Un cadre décisionnel a été élaboré pour les niveaux spécifiques et infra-spécifique avec une approche intégrative de la taxinomie. Ce cadre intégre notamment un aspect biogéographique en tenant compte des zones-refuges potentielles pour les espèces au cours du dernier maximum glaciaire. Cette démarche permet d’avoir une approche homogène pour le classement des taxa aux niveaux spécifiques et infra-spécifiques. Les conséquences pour l’acquisition des données dans le cadre d’un inventaire national sont développées. Summary : Studies on molecular phylogenies of Butterflies and Burnets have been increasingly frequent in the recent years, changing the systematics and taxonomy of these two groups. A full update has been performed in this work. -

Pyrgus alveus caucasius Picard and Pyrgus jupei Alberti In a paper on Pyrgus bellieri, Picard (1949: 57) casually named the popu lations of Pyrgus alveus from the Caucasus and Transcaucasia caucasius. According to Picard, Reverdin (1915) confused this form with the Chinese sifanicus which has different genitalia. The description of caucasius is very short: "Il faut mentionner l'extrême petitesse de la pièce constituée par l'anti style et le stylifer, ainsi que l'aspect externe qui n'est pas sans ressembler au P. bellieri typique des Alpes". Further, Picard referred to the figures of Reverdin (1915, pl. 5 figs. 5, 6 and 7). Alberti (1967) described the species Pyrgus jupei from the Caucasus, main ly based on the small proportions of the style and antistyle. Although, judging from the description, the external characters of jupei are quite different from those of bellieri (and therefore, of caucasius), the emphasis laid on the pro portions of the style and antistyle by both Picard (1949) and Alberti, sug gested that caucasius and jupei may be synonymous. Only a study of the type material could clear up this question. However, Picard did not indicate speci fied types, he only mentioned: "... après avoir contrôlé moimême sur divers exemplaires (que je choisis comme type de caucasius) ...". -

First record of Cacyreus marshalli from the Greek Island of Sími. An update of the Butterfly and Skipper Fauna of the Greek Island of Rhodos (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea & Hesperioidea) Christos J. Galanos Abstract. Sixteen records of butterflies and skippers from Hálki Island are now being presented for the first time ever. Cacyreus marshalli is being reported as new to Sími Island, and an update of the butterflies and skippers of Rhodos Island is being given together with a comparative study of the butterfly and skipper fauna for the lepidopterologically better known islands of the Dhodhekánisa-group. These rugged mountains rise steeply from Turkey’s Black Sea coast and are an extension of the Caucasus mountains which are considered by the World Wide Fund for Nature to be a global biodiversity hotspot. The Kaçkars are thought to be the richest area for butterflies in this range, a hotspot in a hotspot with over 160 resident species. The valley of the River Çoruh lies at the heart of the Kaçkar and the centre of the trip explored its upper reaches at altitudes of 1,300—2,300m. The area consists of steep-sided valleys with dry Mediterranean vegetation, typically with dense woodland and trees in the valley bottoms interspersed with small hay-meadows. In the upper reaches these merge into alpine meadows with wet flushes and few trees. The highest mountain in the range is Kaçkar Dağı with an elevation of 3,937 metres The tour was centred around the two charming little villages of Barhal and Olgunlar, the latter being at the fur- thest end of the valley that you can reach by car. The area is very remote and only accessed by a narrow road that winds its way up the valley providing extraordinary views that change with every turn. -

The German Association of Engineers (VDI) has developed guidelines for the standardized monitoring of Lepidoptera describing the use of light traps for adult moths, transect counts for adult butterflies, and visual search for larvae. The guidelines suggest recording adults of Crambid Snout Moths during transect counts in addition to butterflies, and present detailed protocols for the visual search of larvae. -

Dardona**, Mohammed.A.Albayoumi * * Msc Microbiology ** Msc Limnology Abstract- Butterflies and moths were studied in regions of Wadi Gaza, extending from Salahe El-deen bridge west to Wadi Abo- Qatron near Wadi Gaza village to the east. The research is based on studying the diversity of butterflies and moths in terms of taxa diversity, Genera compositions, and family abundance. In terms of family abundance, the survey showed that all recorded butterflies are belonging to five main families (Pieridae, Hesperiidae, Lycaenidae, Nymphalidae, Papilionidae). The recorded moths are also belonging to five families (Arctiidae, Crambidae, Geometridae, Noctuidae, Sphingidae). In terms of species and genera compositions and diversity, the survey revealed that butterflies are more abundant concerning diversity and richness than moths. The five families of butterflies are consisting of (19 genera) and (25 species) while the five families of moths are consisting of only (10 genera) and (11species).The butterflies represented (69 %) of recorded species in the area of study while the moths were represented in (31 %) of the findings. The most abundant family of butterflies is Pieridae with (36%) of all recorded butterflies, followed by Lycaenidae (32%). As for moths, the abundant families are Noctuidae, Geometridae, and Crambidae were each family was represented by (3 species), and they form (82%) of recorded moths. In this study all genera, in both moths and butterflies are represented only by one specie except six genera of butterflies and one genus of moths as each one is represented with two species, these six genera of butterflies are zizeeria,Vanessa, Colias, Pieris, Carcharodus, and Pointa and that genues of moths is Stemorrhages. -

WITH PHYTOPHAGOUS INSECTS Dinka GRUBIŠIĆ, Jasminka IGRC BARČIĆ, Božena BARIĆ, Tanja GOTLIN ČULJAK Department for Agricultural Zoology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb, Svetošimunska cesta 25, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia, [email protected] Accepted: 2006 - 12 - 06 Velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti Medik.) creates a serious weed problem in farmland, in Croatia especially in maize, soybean, sugar beet and sunfl owercrops, but worldwide as well. Because of early-season control escape, and the discovery of atrazine-resistant populations of velvetleaf, investigation of insects as potential biological agents for velvetleaf control was conducted in Croatia from 1995 to 2000. In 24 Croatian localities a total of 15 insect species associated with velvetleaf were recorded. A total of 10 insect species: Carpocoris purpureipennis De Geer, 1773, Graphosoma lineatum italicum Müler, 1766, Lygeaeus saxatilis Scopoli, 1763, Pyrrhocoris apterus Linnaeus, 1758, Rhopalosiphum padi Linnaeus, 1758, Macrosiphum euphorbiae Thomas, 1878, Podagrica menetriesi Falderman 1837, Psylliodes brisouti Bedel, 1898, Carcharodus alceae Esper, 1780 and Autographa gamma Linnaeus, 1758, were recorded on velvetleaf for the fi rst time. The insect species Pyrrhocoris apterus, Carpocoris purpureipennis, Graphosoma lineatum italicum, Lygaeus saxatilis and Psylliodes brisouti were recorded on velvetleaf as accidentals and no signs of their feeding on velvetleaf were registered. Well known pest species Aphis fabae Scopoli, 1763, Rhopalosiphum padi, Macrosiphum euphorbiae, Autographa gamma and Ostrinia nubillalis Hübner, 1796 were recorded on velvetleaf rarely, but the feeding of the mentioned Lepidoptera species was recorded during fi eld observations.
